As a Tier 3 pilot grinding the million points for his first Tier 4 box I got bored (imagine that) so I headed off to Kashyyk to start the Vaksai quest. It all went smoothly until I got to the Corvette mission. Let's just say I should've read the boards FIRST.
My trusty Dunelizard got eaten by a gunboat the first time. Undaunted but severely pissed I tried again. This time I accidentally nicked the 'vette and got sent packing by it's turrent gunners. Hmm, says I, this Dunelizard is a tad fragile. So I put together a tank ofa Kimogila and head off to battle yet again. Sliding all over the sky (man this thing is a pig
) I manage to take out the escorts and park myself behind the Corvette. I fire up the ion cannons to do some disabling, fire off a shot then WHAM! I'm asking the station for repairs.
Hm. Maybe there's a better way to do this....
So I log off and check the boards. Well, whaddya know, there IS an easier way to do this. Doh!
I strip the Kimo, rearrange gear in my Dunie so I can fit a concussion missile launcher and head out one last time. Cakewalk. Disabled the escorts, disabled the 'vette, fought off the incoming fighters and ran like a scared little girl from the gunboat that showed up (IFF and BOOOOOST). A few seconds later I get the MISSION ACCOMPLISHED message and go pick up my Vaksai reward.
Of course since I still have 265k space combat xp to go until I can actually FLY the stupid thing it'll just be sitting on the mantle but at least I can rest easy knowing it's there waiting.
So thanks to all of the posters who contributed to the process of how to pass this quest. It helped tremendously. I just wish I hadn't been so stubborn andcome back to read the boards after the first time I died.

I think you will find the Pilot Community to be very helpful, if approached with the right attitude. I hope the rest of your career is as enjoyable and rewarding as taking out that Vette!
PS - You will use the Vette tactic again before you are done

Thanks for the re-post, Sandrew. I am at the same point as you were. But 4/3/3/3, so I can hop right in if I make it.
