Thread: Random thought while playing Shadows today...

Was playing Shadows of the Empire today--was feeling retro. While I was gunning on the Outrider, I had a cool thought--what if we could set up the turrets like the Outrider's? While you're gunning on Dash's ship, you are actually controlling both sets of turrets at once--when you're aiming at a ship above the centerline, the top gun only fires, and when you drop below, only the bottom gun fires, and when the target is in the Money Lane, both guns fire.

Cool idea for a two-person crew?

Oh, and we should be able to get a droid to fly our ship on a fairly simple path.

That would actually be a good idea. But I'd still prefer to be able to fire the turrets myself as a pilot...

This probably doesn't belong in this thread, except for it being another 'cool' implementation coming from non-SWG source material:

At the end of ANH, Vader's TIE Advanced protype had an important design feature that was missing in both the Larry Holland sims and in this game. That being: the guns on the Advanced functioned as forward facing turrets that were controllable by the pilot.

Controlling the forward turrets would probably most easily be implemented by allowing an alternate configuration for the POV hat that comes standard on most joysticks these days (which, in personal experience, hasn't proven very useful in JTL), and adjusting the targeting reticle accordingly. It still would be incredibly tricky for a pilot to get a handle on, but someone mastering such an enhancement would be incredibly fun to watch and fight.

The A-wing's blasters are supposed to tilt up and downwards to about 45 degrees up or down too to help tracking a target.
