This taken from gamespots review on our "new game"...

Details on other aspects of the game, such as the ultimate basis of the upcoming story, as well as exactly what will happen to the game's space travel and space combat gameplay, remain scarce. However, MacIntyre suggests that the fact that the game has incorporated elements from other Star Wars games (such as how the homicidal droid HK-47 from Knights of the Old Republic appears in the Trials of Obi-Wan expansion pack) may be telling, and that players shouldn't be surprised to see Galaxies look to other such games for inspiration, if that inspiration can, in fact, lead to a more-cohesive Star Wars experience. For example, MacIntyre suggests that the on-foot-in-vehicle mechanics of LucasArts' upcoming shooter, Battlefront II, might figure into the way space vehicles will work. We'll have to wait to see what's in store for those systems later. For now, the massive update to Galaxies, and the free-to-play new player experience, are scheduled for launch on November 15.

Dumbed down .

Not sure really. I'm trying not to fall into the trapof speculating too much. Personally I agree with Tomo on keeping a clear open mind here.

I think that might be a long winded, less elegant way of saying POB (portalised object).

No need to speculate, they have explained it well enough.

9 professions, suppossedly "iconic" but not really at all.

You can only have one profession, EVER

anyone can be a Jedi, which means everyone will be a Jedi.

No risk at all.

No decay, so no need for crafters.

Basically the game is aimed at smack talking uberleet kiddies. This unfortunately means space is dead, anyone you meet up there will be some brain dead 5 yr old trying to be uber.

Im off to Star Wars Battlefront 2 in 2 weeks. I dont have to pay a monthly fee and, even better, it has sapce and ground combat. And it is unlikely they will suddenly change it into a MMORPG!

Leaph, I don't think Battlefront II has POB ships. I mean, it has the space levels with the capitol ships but I think that is considered part of the level, not a vehicle.

I would take this to mean that you get to run up to the craft and hit a button to jump in and takeoff. Here's hoping that's what it is anyway!

Yeah this kind of confuses me. From what I've seen of the proposed design changes, the game is getting closer to the SWG I'd always dreamed they'd make (before the game even came out or was in even in production), however with the battlefront series they seem to be competing with themselves as far as the combat aspect.
