hi i am the captain of the YT-1300 Century Pigeon and id liek some feedback on how turreteers like the ship to move what ive been doing recently when helping a m8 out with his 30 TIE mission i had only one guy in the turret and i put my ship to half throttle and keapt on moving so that the ship was infront of me so he couldh shoot it is this a good idea this method was used when there were other friendly craft attacking the TIEs but when its just me what i would do is o to a full stop and roll my craft so the enamy is in the top turrets arc of fire

would be nice to hear ideas fromother people

I'd like to hear this feedback too. I'm also a YT-1300 captain.

I might give some, but not until I see some more periods. Eh, call me prejudiced against horrible grammar if you feel like it, but posts like that are too hard to comprehend.

Done, now spill the beans!

Every gunner's ability to compensate for ship mostion is different. First order of business is, I tell them to try using the mouse to aim, and playing fully zoomed out. Less immersive, but better for maintaining a sense of space. Second order of business, the gunner needs to switch targets often. If he locks on one and waits for it to come back into range while it makes a 1km loop, 4 other ships can offten pass him by. When I pilot a big ship, I tend to avoid the "chase" tactic you describe, unless we are in trouble, and I need to manage where we're getting hit. If I'm flying in a 2 seater with a gunner, I pretty much chase as normal, and tell my gunner that they are a "forward arc" shooter.

Key to MP ship success is to take advantage of what your guns do well, here are two good ways I've found.

1) Instead of chasing a ship, get them to chase you. Make something mad at you then turn and run. If you keep them in range, and dont speed off, they will follow and make themselves very easy targets.

2) This works best for neutrals in a YT, but its great fun to fly up underneath an Imperial gunboat, matchspeed, roll on your side, and let the gunners have fun shooting at what is essentially an unmoving target. I get a chuckle out of it every time.

Last bit of MP ship piloting advice, know your own blindspots, and dont let foes get in them. Keep them away from the midline of your ship, unless both gunners see him and are ready, and don't let enemies fly in the area above 40degrees elevation for your guns. Yes the gunscan point straight up, but its much harder to hit anything at that angle. Think of your kill zome like a donut and keep things in the donut. Everyone loves a good donut, right? mmmmmm cruellers.....

AS for movement, to make life a lot easier for the gunners, try to limit turns to one plane at a time ie pitch, yaw, or roll. Corkscrews are cool, but make things a pain for gunners who have to compensate for a lot more motion. If you only change one direction at a time, compensation is no harder than tracking the target. Make sense?

There are two methods that I've seen that works. The first works best for the YT-1300 since both turrets can fire over the center-line; direct your gunners to fire forward (unless attacked from behind), then keep the center-line of the ship on target. The second is to keep to slow speed, slow manuevers to keep the guns busy.

When flying, I like the first method best because you can chew through more ships faster. That being said, I don't crew MP ships very often any more; because there's seldom any loot for the crew. When I do crew, it's out of charity since I can do far better for myself in an A-Wing. MP ships need to be beefed up a bit (and their owners need to be better about sharing the loot), otherwise they are just collector items.

I fly as straight as i can, fly slowly, and take turns wide and slow (unless im trying to run away from something) the gunners that usually come up in my nova courier have no problem taking out the groups of tie fighters that spawn in deep space.

The spelling can be forgiven, plenty of people with dyslexia or with english as a 2nd language. But there are a couple of things known as capitalization and punctuation. If you speak a language that does not uses those, I would very much like to know which one. You're typing one big block of text that most people won't bother to read. Try starting sentences with a capital end ending with a dot, using comma's where neccesary. You'll get more and friendlier replies to your posts.

I know when I'm sitting gunner I actually appreciate it the most when the pilot will take the ship out for a few practice shots against low tier fighters. It gives me a chance to get used to the ships fire arc's along with turret speed and what kind of weapon I'm handling at that moment.

Now I've only flown as a gunner in two MPS, the Deci and the YT. For the Deci I found it worked out best when the pilot just kept things going nice and smoothe, stringing targets out behind us for myself and the other gunner to take, rolling and bucking as needed to keep stuff out of our blind spot. Granted it was probably just the engine but the YT I crew for is alot more manuverable than the Deci and the pilots able to chase after and dogfight with targets alot more, so for that I slip back into the forward arc frame of mind that I get into when flying as a gunner for a Krayt or Y-wing...just shotting at what's in front of us and keeping a constant stream of fire going. For the Aggressor as a pilot I just fly as I normally do and let the gunner take potshots at anything that comes up behind us, works out the same way for when I'm sitting in the butt turret of an Aggressor as well, the pilot just flighs as per usual and I let loose on anything that get's behind us.
