Thread: Is Y-8 mass stat bugged?

eh....or is it really 5000000 mass? yes thats not a typo on my part the mass for my y-8 says 5million
but I'm assuming its a typo on the devs part and the mass is supposed to be 500000 (500k)
anyone know if its a bug or not?

its really 5000000 mass, all the POB ships have around 5000000 mass

I'm thinking a typo is involved somewhere... as the YT-1300 has a mass of 5 mil, and it's a lot smaller than the Y-8.....

Maybe the DEV's just decided that mass should not be an issue on POS ships. I don’t even know how one would use up 5,000,000 mass.

yeah my yt-1300 has 5 mill mass too now?
any confirmation on whether or not this is a bug
5 million seems a bit silly /shrug
I'm not complaining heh just dont wanna buy stuff that wont fit

it is silly considering a kray is alomost has big but only has 212k ..........so by being about maybe 1 m bigger, that give sthe yt-1300 about 4.5 mill more mass? lol but to confirm, POB ships have 4.9-5 mill mass and it would be stupid if the y-8 didnt follow suit considering its 6 times bigger than the POB ships...the y-8 should acctualy have mor emass, 5 millf or the y-8 and 1 mill for POB would seem reasonable. I barely use up 400k anyways.

POB ships are supposed to be able to equip anything starfighter class that they want. THe 5Mil mass is just done because it needed a number. They could have made it 1 mil, but what did it matter? They just threw in a number high enough that you could load up all the best gear and it would fit. These ships are not supposed to have the mass restrictions like a fighter.

The new "elite" weapons crafted by shipwrights are each 250k a piece in mass, so having that super high mass is essential if you want to load it up with those.

500k for both guns, elite sheilds are like 250k , so 750k for all three, then an engiene is 33k(119.1 speed), booster is 33k(49 speed), reactor is 15k( 24k energy)capacitor is about 35k(1535 energy 55 recharge), DI is 2k(9.1 speed), so in total ive used 868k of mass to out fit a yt-1300... 1 mill would cover that.

Eventually they'll actually make all the elite components better than the lower level crafted stuff or loot, then you'll need the mass

A full load of POB equipment would put you around 2 or so million.
For the Y-8, remember its a BIG empty box you fill with rocks. Its tare mass is going to be lower than if it were fully loaded.

ye sbut untill they fix soem of the POB equip, I wouldnt use it. and even if the y-8 is holow, its still 6 time sbigge rthan any pob ship and should have more mass imo. having mass on ships in general is kind of pointless though since the mass of yrou ship is determine afte ryou install your component snot before.
