when I go into space I end up getting some messy controls, and I can't find a way to fix it anywhere
I will press tab to select a target and my camera angle will then automatically look at it, but my ship will not, I lose any possibility of coherent control, the camera keeps looking at the target never letting off which also means that my ship is going in different directions, this is EXTREMELY annoying.

More specifically, it looks as if you've turned on Camera Target Lock. Unless you've changed it, the key to turn it off again is NUM LOCK.

thank you Myopik - I will try that when I get back online(didn't think of that - will have to change the keybinding for that OFF) lol
as for the control options: I tried that, stated it in the message.

no you didnt 
there's a bunch of camera, control, and interface settings in your control panel....you'll probably want to check them all to make your interface work the way you want to

it's all good, when I said I can't find a way anywhere I mean't I tried all the camera options, I didn't think to check the key bindings since there is only the standard set(which is default, and I never had this problem before) and the Japanese set. It is the num-lock key tho, I remember pressing it because I am so used to autorun on the ground, but I removed it from the bindings so it never happanes again
