Thread: A theory on why Deep space was lagging like crazy and still is after the CU.

Ok then, so in another thread we all now know that currently at least, the ISD is pretty much indestructible against laser fire but not bombs.

Whetherthis change was intended or not, doesn't matter.

My theory is, once the usual lot [myself included] who usually hit the ISD regularly found out that theirusual tactics weren't working, we decided to leave DS for a while...thus meaning the stardestroyer wasn't dying regularly [if not at all on Bria] and so NPC ships kept spawning.

With these new friend/foe target boxes around ships, I know from when Iwent to DS a few minutes after the server went back up, DS was fairly void of NPCs, however 6 hours later when I tried again, it was packed...and not ust usual 'lots of npcs' but I'd guess hundreds.

My point is though, I'm pretty sure that the deal with the lag and slow frame rate is due to the fact the ISD wasn't killed thus resetting the spawns in DS . In fact, it was so packed, that there were a number of Rebel Corvettes actually scoring minimal damage to the Star destroyer and in return of this, the star destroyer was spamming the area with laser fire..waaayyy more than I have ever seen before.

I'm sure that whenever the devs inform us with what the deal is on the ISD and ravager, whether it is an intentional change or not...it'll be ixed, or if it isnt a bug and is intentional, we'll find a similarly quick method of killing the things and the frame rate/lag harmony will return to normal.

Just my theory anyway.

Your theory fails to take into account that the ISD (or Freedom Station) are not regularly destroyed on every server. I'm used to loading into DS at 6pm CDT and finding DS packed with spawns on Kettemoor, and rarely having a lag issue.

Oh I see then.

I wasn't aware of that.

In that case then....God knows.

I actually think thats exactly whats happening Leaph. If you blow up the ISD all NPCs despawn which functions like a reset button for the entire zone. All faction NPCs despawn, RSS respawns (if it was killed), ISD respawns, both start spawning fighters again. I am not sure whether server reset changes anything though as i havent watched it that closely. Most likely it is the lack of killed ISDs.

All i know is that when DS is full with mobs my FPS drop down quite a bit. Maybe there are other issues but this one is at least one main aspect.
