Thread: Newbie Pilot Questions
I also read in one of the stickies here that as a privateer you could go overt towards either faction but could not enter deep space due to a lack of prestige points. Then I read that there are factionally aligned privateer guilds.
Could anybody explain what I will not be able to access as a privateer of each alignment (Rebel, Imperial and neutral) compared to a rebel or imperial pilot so that I can make my decision.
I want to be able to fly with my imperial friends and PvP with them but also want to be able to fly with anybody else in PvP or PvE.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the summary Shona.

Switch between steer my ship and pick from a menu is Alt.
what faction are you? I found the headhunter the rebs give you a nice easy to navigate ship, didn't try the other factions starter ships.
Dunno about the third one.
1. How do you switch the mouse between "steer my ship" and "pick from a menu" mode?
2. My ship steers like a stoned hippo. Is this because my framerates bite, or is this how a newbie ship is supposed to handle?
3. Are ther any graphics settings that can help my frame rates in space specifically, besides nebula density?
Thanks!
I'd say try one of those upload/download speed test sites and check your connection.
Just as a reference my current DSL speeds are aprox 350 uploadand 620 download.
The game runs just fine, no lag usually. There are times when I get some heavy lag ... but at those times everyone else around me get's the same so it's safe to assume those moments are server-side, or at least close to server-side.
These should change tomorrow, my new DSL service should be activated and it's supposed to be twice what I have now ... I'm waiting to see, but that's what they tell me.
