Thread: Trouble with Vaksai Mission

Heya, I am an Ace Freelancer and have progressed up to the CDF mission to get my Vaksai but having some trouble and wondering if this is a bug.
1) Kill Corvette Fighters...cake.
2) Disable Vett................no problem.
3) 1rst Fighter wave.......cake.
4) 2nd Fighter wave.......cake.
5) 3rd Fighter wave........pie.
6) 4th fighter wave.........Problem.
This wave has (2) tier 5 light fighters and (1) Gunship and coming into this wave the Vett is typically at 95% or better on systems with no other dmg.
I have tried:
Engaging the gunship....Light fighters kill the corvette in 2 passes.
Engage the fighters.......Gunship kills vett in one pass.
The vett still showed 92% systems and no other damage when it blew..got to go with WTH?!

I never done this mission but the standard approach to such vette problems seems to be to leave disabling the vette to as late as possible ? The idea being you dont get so much hassle from the later waves
Tried that ? Just a thought

yepper tried that, thin line on it bolting on you if you do not disable fairly soon, but i streched it as long as possible couple times with same outcome...
Dead vett that ain't even missing a gun turret!

wait untill 6.5k out from the station ( i think neutral vette is headed to a station) then start the takeover. when that waves spawn after that only disable them, let them blow up on thier own. Might think about drawing them behind th vette if it is shooting them too. that way you get fewer waves, maybe the vette will pop before you get to the gunships.

Neutral vette is headed to the station, correct. Just wait till you're 6.5km out, disable the beast, then only attack the fighters you can handle. The gunships will not attack you if you don't attack them. I just did a /follow after I killed all but the 3 gunships on the vette, went to get some food, came back, went into the hangar in the space stations, waited for it to hyperspace, then landed soon as I got my reward. Pie

Also I've found that if you fly out ahead of the Vette and attack then attack all teh ships before the vette does, they will agro you not it, that way you can run like hell and leave the vette to make the jump.

Oky just did it again,
disabled at 6.5k out
only disabled all fighters, ignored gun ships
at about 3k out the vett was at:
- Shields: 100%
- Armor: 100%
- Systems: 85%
- Chassis: 100%
And it went Badaboom.
It's not a matter of me fighting others, i am basically unscathed at this point. butthe Vett Blows up ages before it should.
Odd things: I got prestige when it blew (12k) and no i was not shooting it, cause at this point i was just staying within 1k and watching.

I think that's a bug.
The AI on the gunships are dumn and they will not know you have to be on the left side of the vette to hit turrets on the left side... so it's almost impossible for them to destory it. They'll take some guns out, sure, but not the vette.

Ya i think so too, thanks for the suggestions all but this is out of reach i think.
Has been for at least the last three days.

How, exactly do YOU disable this particular vette? I mean, what components do you take out.
I'm thinking it may be tied to that. I've done this several times with friends and guildies and never had it blow up like that.

- gun 7
- gun 0
- gun 1
- gun 2
- gun 3
- gun 4
- shields
- 2nd shields
- engine
sometimes flip 6 and 7 or 0,1 and 2,3 but this is the norm for me.

If you follow the vette until it's only 4.5k or so from the station before you disable it, the gunboats will never spawn. This way you won't have to worry about them at all.
