I am trying to do the tier 4 mission where you take out the VT49 Decimator. Everytime I get near it, it pounds me into pulp. I try taking out its weapons as fast as possible, but its guns are so strong, it has blown me up three times in a row.
Any tips on taking out these big ships relatively safely? I can fly circles around 10 TIE's, so this is frustrating the hell out of me! Thanks!

What ship you flying? Whats its loadout? Are you using droid programs? Are you taking out the fighters first?

I just got 3 friends to go up with me, fitted them all with space bombs, and in one and a half passes we nuked the thing tooblivion. It was fun.

Hit it from the broadside. Only one of its guns will hit you at a time in that case.
Don't stick around until it blows up if your sheilds start getting down. Boost away, shunt up, and broadside it again. On the second pass you should be able to take out the gun that it is shooting you with.

First, make sure your droid commands are the best ones you can make use of.
Second, do a pass on your equipment, and upgrade it where nessecary.
If you feel comfortable enough with your ship, then you can start the thinking game.
The VT49 has one gun on top, one on the bottom. Attack so only one of these is facing you, or if you want to be extra cheeky, try and find a blindspot. I've not got much practice fighting VT49s, since I just mow through them, but for lighter loadouts you'll have to use more tactics.
Also try and disable the gun you're going for.

There's always the conventional tactic for ships that deal too much damage to stay in range of ... strafing runs. The tactic is even more critical when you're facing gunboats in missions.
