Thread: This does not add up

I get 94 FP for killing a Corvette. I get 159 FP for kiling a gun ship. Why? A corvette is bigger and harder to kill

Bigger yes, but I can drop one of them in about the time it takes me to drop a gunboat. Not to mention one hit from a vette is nothing like one hit from a gunboat group if they decide to change flight path right when you are 300m behind them

But, I to agree. Never understood why it had pretty much no faction associated with it....then I saw the prestige I got for killing one. First thing I do when I enter Deep Space: Kill a vette. More then made up for the cost of entering.

Gunboats give 'as much' xp/presitige as a gunboat (at least the imperial one does) thing is in all honesty a gunboat has more of a chance to kill you than a vette so it works out.

Yeah. you do have a point there. I can take out a Vet with 10 Mark III torpedos(my Heavy Tie can carry 14), my Opressror will carry 42)


Shields do not protect vet hard points from torpedos(Possible BUG?) bet that will get fixed whne they fix Weapon Overload 3(which is Over load 3 + Tuning 3)

Well i never use missles (why use something that costs extra money) so my point still stands for blaster only pilots aswell

I'm a fighter/bomber pilot. I so I use missles,torpedos and bombs.


My Tie is standard with a lvl 8 gun for dog fighting.


When I know I'm going after captial ships I switch to a lvl6 gun and load my Mark III torpedos.

I dunno. To me, Vettes are more dangerous than gunboats, which just fly along in straight lines and can't shoot quite as far as you can--and more importantly, Vettes take longer to kill, what with the need to actually deal with incoming fire and shunt and pull strafing runs and whatnot.

The almost complete lack of rewards on Vettes may be intentional to discourage slaughtering the Kessel Vettes en masse, but the fact it takes a couple minutes to blow one up for a mere 94 FP and no chance at loot means I rarely if ever bother with them out in Deep Space. If that's intentional, I'd like to see the Kessel and Deep Space Vettes put into different categories, with significant enough rewards for the latter to be worth the time spent exploding them.

You make a dumb mistake against a vette = dead. Same mistake against a gunboat usually results in armor damage at worst.

I wish they would spawn some Imperial Vettes in DS. Would be a bigger challenge going against those than the Imperial Star Lag. The only thing the ISD is good for is dropping my fps to 7 when NPCs attack it.

BTW what is the shield hit points for a Reb gunship? I fired a 13k - 25k(1.6x modifer on armor and shields)bomb at the sucker and the shields only droped down to 85%(30% damange on the rear shield) Even assuming that the bomb hit for 13k that means the shields of a gunship is well over 30k per arc.


Why can't we fit POB ships with 30k shields?

FPS of 7? You're lucky. If the Lag Destroyer is firing, I have maybe half of that...
