Thread: Ship Loadout v3 (final Beta)

I have been building over the last couple of months a web based Ship Loadout Program. There has been a basic version but I have now finished (minis a few graphical upadates and missile/ordance).


I would like some feedback on thisprogram so if any one is interested it can be found at www.swgstarships.co.uk (link below) , under the Pilot Database, (Loadout 3 Beta).


I am working on the calculation to depermine the Weapon fire rate, as in how long the capacitor will last.


Also working on Overload calculations.


So any feed back will be greatly received.


The end system will contain , crafted parts with every possible varient, looted and RE parts that you as a player put into the database. Currently it lists all parts entered so far by myself and other players. Also the ability to save the loadout and share with others.


I will be adding recommened loadout solutions.

Very impressive.

One little bug I found right off. When calculating remaining mass, it doesn't take into account the gun. I just made my IGI with an RE'd Beamrail at 44k mass. Now, if only the game would do that.

NP. I didn't play around with it fully earlier (didn't have the time), but one question I do have: Does it currently save the ships you create after you load them out, or is it just for a one-time setup to see what will fit?

Oh, and another question, since I am yet to go through all of it. Does the component lists have any sort of filtering options. IE, only show me stuff I have....only show me stuff on my server....show me everything.

The save feature is all but complete, just adding the final validation code. That way ppl can share there ship configs with other players.


2. The final list componenets will only show what you have entered into the database, If I include them all then the loading will take forever. I might add an option that you select what component lvl you can use and it filters on that.


3. My mind does wonder off sometimes thinking how SW's can use it to sell parts. So for instance you can enter crafted parts that you sell and put a price on it. So when a player builds a ship he can then producea shopping list. This will then pull out the components fom the database showing the Crafters name, shop and price.


My ultimate vision is to have a loadout page that two players can configure at the same time with a chat screen. Just like the idea of a hanger in game where a SW can play with someones ship.


anyway off the the library, kids need more books to read.

Very ambitious effort, to say the least.

I know I worked on a site (done solely in PHP with no javascript) that allowed almost-realtime chatting between people on the site. That was a headache and a half.

The saving will be very nice, as will filtering components.

The shopping side of it will be interesting. Would mainly be a matter of being able to get enough shipwrights/pilots to go there and enter data.

ok the save feature now works. Just got to write the update part. (off to cinema to watch herbie with the kids) so should be ready this evening.


All thats left is to create a basic set of generic equipment for ordnance/chaff and the rest of the parts.


This will comprise of a create set of each part and a sub part, so the pilots can see what we can make.


I have cheated as I create a lvl 1 part then using a program calculted the other lvls so I didnt have to make every one. This formula worked for armor so the rest should follow suit.

You are saying on your site that Scyk High Mass can have 2 weapons and a Co Pilot?
