So ya want to master pilot but are too lazy to read all of the FAQ and other pilot related material? Cool, read on then. This is a nutshell guide to mastering rebel and freelance pilot. Ill probably add an imperial section later but the process more or less is about the same. This is NOT the most economical way nor the most efficient way to grind pilot however it is pretty straight forward and insures that you can grind the entire pilot profession solo.

Novice - Tier 1

First thing you will want to do is get ahold of a ship that has a lot of mass. The freelance starter ship for tier 1 is fine. For rebel however, you will want to get ahold of a shipwright or do a vendor search for a heavy z95. Rebels will be using this ship for most of the grind.

Once you got your ship chasis, you will want to do some of the newbie duty missions just to get used to flying. The first box you will want to train in is starship component use. This gives you access to level 2 ad 3 components that you can stuff into your ship.

Now, its time to go shopping. Find a shipwright or a trusted component vendor via vendor search/forum prodding/friends and buy a level 2-3 reactor, weapon, shield, armor, capacitator, and engine. Once thats done, stuff em into your ship and do more missions from the pilot trainer. Once you are ready to train.......... read below

Freelance- Next box you will want to train in is basic fighters. Go purchase a dunelizard ship afterwards from a shipwright and stuff your components into it. Continue doing the trainer missions till you can train droid interface basics

Rebel- Next box you will want to train in is droid interface basics.

Droid stuff simplified

Now, you will want to go shopping again but this time it is for droids and droid chips. Find a friendly droid engineer to purchase a flight computer and droid chips from. Shipwrights provide droid interfaces.

Freelance- Buy a V2 Flight computer, weapon overload 3 droid chip, and a droid interface.

Rebel- Buy a level 2 Astromech droid, weapon overload 3 droid chip, and droid interface.

Install the droid interface into your ship. Deed your Astro/Flightcomputer into your datapad. Open the datapad, use the radial menu on your computer/astro, and select "Program Droid". A new window will pop up and you will want toadd the command "weapon overload 3" to the right side of the screen. Do so, press the "commit" button, say yes when the warning popup appears, and you are done.

Install the astro/computer into your ship, launch into space, open up the command browser with ctrl a, select the astromech tab, find the icon for weapon overload 3, put it into your specials bar, and then press the corrisponding hotkey to use it.

At this point, you are probably asking what the hell does all this crap do? Read on.

By utilizing the weapon overload 3 command, you are essentially giving your weapons a mega damage buff. Ships takesignificantly less firepower to kill and grinding is more or less an easier process. The overload command stays initialized throughout the duration of your time in space however if you land or repair at a space station, you will have to execute the command again for it to take effect.

From this point, you can continue doing the trainer duty missions or you can make your way to "Nym's Hovel" in the Lok sector. There, you can risk going against tier 3 corsair pilots. At this point, they will really beat you down but they provide 1k exp per kill and are definately faster than duty missions as long as you dont mind dieing too much.

End of Tier 1 part. Ill write the tier 2 part soon.

just a fyi you can repair at a spacestation and keep the droid commands running. I usually launch run RO4/EO3/CO4/WO3 then do the 25/25/50/100% repair so im all healed up then go about my mission/looting

Also, if you're not using any EO and using WO3, there's no reason to use RO under most conditions ... you'd really have to work to need it.

...has mastered the Pilot profession
