Thread: Imperial guard TIE interceptor quest question.
The vette you need to disable is guarded by just a few fighters. I don't remember if there were any actual gunboats guarding it or not. But, this vette is nothing like the Kessel vette. Nothing is really like the ships out there.
The vette will pitch and yaw around (I know mine did) as soon as you engage it. So there is no real "blindspot". The best way is to get only as close as is needed to draw away the fighter escort without engaging the vette. Do not get it pissed at you. Then, when you go in to disable it, do it fast. Do *not* take out any more guns then is absolutely necessary, as they will help you in the next part. Once you have captured the vette, you have to escort it towards an Imperial station. This is where the gunboats come into play. They will spawn in your path towards the station. Those do sit still (at least all mine did), but they jump in facing you, so to get behind them can sting if you are trying to do it fast.
I got really lucky on mine and only had to deal with 2 waves of gunboats. It all depends on how far you are away from the station when you disable the vette.

i've been using bomber strike 3 to help me disable the vette, but i think they are doing too good a job, because by the time i have it disabled, the bridge is already down to about 60%, and they continue to attack, even after the escort has begun. anybody else have any problems with this?
Yeah, that's an issue for Imperials that are too "free" using their Bomber Strike. Remember, those little bombers will target, in order, guns, shield, engine, reactor, bridge.
So they are first going to take out all the guns that the vette could use to protect itself once you have it captured. Plus, the bomber strike isn't going to stop until it times out or destroys the vette. Thus, using BStrike3 on this mission is really not recommended, though you could use it against a gunboat if things got a little too intense.

From what I remember, the gunboats are only tier3 and therefore weaksauce. A couple of strafing runs finished em off easily to my recollection.
only for the imperial version
when i did this quest. i knocked out turret # 5 on the vette only, then flew around to take out the shields and then finally disabled the engine leaving all other guns intact.
once the vette is taken over it will fly a set course through the system to its jump point and you have to protect it the entire way.
there's like 8 waves of rebel ships that come at you during the trip. (might be more i forget) 2 of those waves have 1 gun boat in each of them. how i did this part solo was. i held back and let the ships lock on the the vette then i flew in and started taking out the fighters while the vette fought with the gunship. once the gunship is engaged with the vette, it wont turn to attack you, it just sits there fighting the vette.
so you'll beable to hover underneath the gunship and blast it away.
