Thread: What a rush!

Woo! I just soloed my first Vette. Granted, it was only the Vette in Kashyyyk, but I still took it down by myself. That may well have been the most stressful thing I have ever done. The fighters were easy enough, but the fact that the servers are going down today made it especially challenging. Right as I took down the Secondary Shields, I saw a lovely "The servers are going down in 15 minutes" message. ACK! Needless to say, I started to get in a real hurry. Luckily, I was able to remember the correct proceedure for these things, and the mission ended without a hitch. My Z95 is finally going to be retired, and I have a nifty new X-wing! I feel like a real Rebel pilot now. Only took me to 4333 to do it, but there we are. Yay me!

Anyway, I just had to get that out, because I was seriously stressing during that escort. Thanks for all the wonderful tips on Vettes. I'm really looking forward to Kessel now.

Neither Rebel missions for vettes are very difficult. Its a matter of strategy and a little skill thrown in on the side. For someone who's never done it, yes, its a pain, until you've got the hang of it.

No, but you can take a mission from Jabba's to board a vette and get the crap blown out of you by CL 194 Super Battle Droids

BTW Congrats Treena, though that Kashyyyk vette is a lot easier than the Kessel one, it's the gunboats.

WOW, congrats! That is most impressive! I did not think Rebel pilots could solo it either, due to the gunboats more so than the vette.

Follow most of the guides and the gunboats at the end are a non-issue, or a non-spawn.

Anyone can. You just need at most 10 mk III missiles and to be careful on your approach vectors. That's it.

The REAL challenge would be to solo a vette with just blasters... No specials, no missiles. And even that is mostly a matter of being careful on your approach. (Blast bottom turret, blast side turrets from bottom, take upper/side turrets from side, take remaining turrets from other turrets' blindspots. Remove shields, dodge gunboats to hit engine, wait. Hit reactor, hit bridge, finish off gunboats.)

Rhu, we're talking about the Advanced X-wing quest. The real trick isn't disabling the corvette (which is cake), it's surviving the gunboats.

Sure, you can cheat and wait til the last second to disable the corvette, and then just sit back and let it run its course... but that's boring. The real excitement comes from disabling it ASAP and fighting in the midst of the boats the entire time, all solo. Now THAT'S a rush.

Edit: how rude of me, I forgot to congratulate Treena. Congratulations! Sounds like your timing was perfect .

I dunno where people get that impression from. Any faction, can solo ANYTHING, provided the pilot's got his(or her's) "stuff" together.

I did the Vaksai version last night on my alt. I load up a set of MK III concussions on my Krayt. Travel to Kash and start the quest. All goes well (I know about the "weak" bug as my Imperial pilot is caught in that one).

I get the mission to go disable a pirate 'vette and bring it back. Cool.

I fly to the wp (solo), get the fighters to agro me taking a couple hit from the vette, no problem I just hit /cap to shield..........."your flight computer is not programmed for that command" UH OH????. So i blast the fighters that are chasing me. Then hit CTRL-A and drag the /cap to shunt icon to the bar. (dunno what happened there)

So i get in behind the vette and use 4 missiles to take out the 2 shields, wait a bit to let it get a little closer then shoot 2 more missles into the engines. Going great so far. Vette's disabled, crew takes control and starts toward home. About 3 waves of fighters spawn before the first tier 5 GB shows up. Basically now I 'm flying top speed just ducking in everynow and then to keep the GB's off the 'vette. Since i didnt kill any of the guns it seems to be handleing the fighters ok. Sometime during this 2 more tier 5 gunboats show up and are chasing me all over the place as I try and stay close enough to the 'vette to get credit and snipe a fighter here and there.

Finally we're near the station and the 'vette hypers out. mission success screen comes up and everything.

Except for the 3 tier 5 gunboats still chasing me. I'm boosting and dodging shunting to shield every now and then...... "you have reached the limits of your sublight engine..........etc.." UH OH

So I flip around and barrel roll like mad, the Kashyyyk system scenery is spinning round and I'm starting to get dizzy.

I guess I should have just hypered out, but i wanted to pick up my Vaksai. So I head for the station and SHIFT-C right at950m away trying to land while the gunboats are still chasing me. There's Rian congradulating me and asking me if I wan't a ship deed. "YES sure....whatever..just let me land!!!!!"

About this time th GB's catch me and hammer my Krayt to atoms. I respawn still at the station surrounded by gunboats, repair....get blown one more time before I can finally repair and land.

So, yeah, I guess i did solo it, but the after battle got me.

OK, now that I've had a chance to play with this ship, can I just say "OH MY GOD!"? This thing is a bloody powerhouse. I almost feel guilty using it. The Imps don't stand a chance.
