Thread: Best Tier 4 Privateer ship for solo PvE?

I gave up on JTL after about the 2nd week after it was released, because I was having too hard a time completing missions solo as a Privateer with the ships I had available (I had been mostly using my Dunelizard, which I loved for its maneuverability but disliked its mass). Now that ROTW is out and has required space missions, I've decided to give it another try. I'mnow upto4/4/3/3 neutral pilot and just bought a Rihkxyrk. At first I hated its maneuverability, but then realized that it maneuvers just fine if I keep my throttle down. I love the fact that I can equip three guns (awesome firepower there), and the very nice mass.

My question is, is there a better tier 4 ship (including the ROTW ships) than the Rihkxyrk for completing the missions and doing the remaining grinding required to get to Master Pilot, as well as the occasional ROTW mission? Would it be worth giving up a gun and some mass for better maneuverablity in something like the Jedi Starfighter?

If you didn't like the Dunelizard, I don't know how much you would like the JSF. It is more maneuverable, but it has 5-6k less mass. Same for the Grevious. And with only 1 forward gun, I don't think you'd like the ARC, Heavy Scyk, or Vaksai either.

I used a Dunelizard style 1 for all of CorSec, it's a great ship. I only unpacked a Rhyk I had been carrying around because I wanted a 3-gun ship for mining.

A "better" ship all depends on your flight style. I really like the JSF, but I also really liked the Dunelizard. My main ships these days are my Kryat and my JSF, but now I feel like flying my Dunie...

Was that before or after they upped the Dunelizard mass to 85000? Cause mastering in a Duney is possible, its what I did. You could try getting aBelbullab, at 90,000 mass, you can fit some pretty sweet gear into that. Or you could try a heavy shyk, I havn't yet so I don't know how it handles.

Heavy Scyk has the same maneuverability stats as the Belbullab and Actis and has 5-6k more mass. It is a bit bigger target and only has 1 gun mount. A decent PVP ship but doesn't really have the firepower needed for PVE.

Personally I have always gone for more guns and higher mass. The Rihk is a great ship for doing your missions, although it can get hairy when you get a lot of fighters on you. The main idea is to maxamize on your droid programs- use em alot. They often mean the difference between a successful mission and a trip back to the tation, either ot get you running or to land and get the mission again.

I have fallen in love with the Ixiyen, sure its a large target, but its fast and manuverable. The gun placement is rather wide (compared to the TIEs) and I only need an Awing to fly east-west and its destroyed.

Then again I came from imps ships, so I upgraded my ships everytime I leveled. I am 4444 pilot, and have yet to touch the Kirhaz or the Riyzhkor or how ever they are spelled.

Plus the Ixiyen is rather stylus IMO

I'm up to my first box of Tier 4 using my Dunlizard. I love that little ship. I have no problems flying taking out about 3 or 4 tier 4's at a time. For anything else,I have a buddy of mine run missions with my, and the two of us have been able to handle everything so far.

On a side note, for one of his last tier 3 missions, he was soloing it and got killed. He got ticked off and about 8 of us in our guild (including at least one or two ACEs) went up. That was the easiest mission I've ever been on.....

I've mastered using a Rihk and love the heck out of it. I had three heavy hitting weapons plus a capacitor big enough to handle them all. 'Course having all of the privateer and imperial level 3 programs helped quite a bit.

I started using my DL when I was able to use it, and it got me through Master in CorSec. ~85k mass is really quite decent space for good PvE equipment. You can load in a good L7 and L5 gun and decent equipment across the board. And if you're really good, you and squeeze in ordinance. Now I use my Actis for most dogfight missions, but if I get a mission that I need to hit hard and fast (like high tier gunboats), nothing beats the three gun placements and mass of a Ryhk or a Krayt.

Yeah, I love my Dunelizard too (I certainly didn't mean for it to sound earlier like I disliked it), but within about 15 minutes of using my new Rihkxyrk, I realized that I could do everything that I used to do with my Dunelizard, as long as I keep my throttle down enough to maneuver sharply, plus I can fit an awfullot of more powerful equipment in my ship.

I'm glad to hear that people have been able to master using the Rihk. I may stick with that shipif I don't hear any compelling arguments that any of the ROTW ships are better for PvE. I'll work on my astromech programs too.

Still need to do the vette, but I loaded up mine with my reward weapon (no RE'd) along with my RE'd reward weapon from my 4444 Rebel pilot, so had 2 reward weapons (3600 an 3800) plus a 3000dmg unRE'd lvl 8 blaster, 102max spd engine, full armor, 2500/2500 shields, nice booster and 15.1 spd droid interface. That puppy is unstoppable. Use reactor3/cap3/weapon3 programs. I couldn't find an engine overload 3, settled with a +1 to add about 100 top speed.

I loved the Rix. Its got a nice high mass and the gun placement is perfect. The key with it is your flying style. Its death if you are sitting in front of it but the manoeverability leaves some to be desired. The key with the Rix is to treat it like IRL saber dueling. That is you come at each other head on giving your attack everything you've got, once you pass keep going another 300-700m and turn around and unload on them again. This maximizes your capacitor, shields, and your ships number one capability, that is, making stuff in front of it go boom. Once you start chasing them around in circles all their buddies are just going to fly up and toast your armor. Once I realized that things got MUCH easier.

I dumped the dune and Kimo for the Ixy as soon as I built one.

I stuck with that till I could fly a Rix.

For me there was no better way, I started with a 94 speed engine and eventually led up to a 117 speed by the time I finished my ace missions, never even dreamed of trading in my Rix for anything.

Evenwhen I started flying the Krayt I started missing the Rix
