Thread: Why are there Certifications for each in pilot anyhow?

I mean really. I'm a master alliance pilot, I can't figure out how to fly a privateer ship? What, it has a stick-shift with a clutch instead of an automatic?

Why aren't we asking for the ships (besides maybe defining ships, such as the x-wing and tie) to have a simple level box to pilot? Much like the ground game's converted level system now for most weaponry?

1/x/x/x == level 1 ships

2/x/x/x == level 2 ships

3/x/x/x == level 3 ships

and so ....

It's probably been covered in previous posts. But I thought I'd just re-iteratethe frustration.

They are different "enough" to require different certs.

Just like current aircraft. Multi engine aircraft require different training and certification than single engine, props are a different liscense than jets. Even in the military if you fly an F-16 you would have to go through additional training and get certified to fly an A-10. Sure you could technically "fly" it, but you need the training to do so effectively.

An American pilot would have to go through training and be certed to fly a Russian jet, and vice versa.

Besides which, could you IMAGINE the furore that would erupt when Rebel Master pilots start flying TIEs.

Exactly - as a neutral I get banned from the local factional cities for being a "potential spy". Could you IMAGINE the paranoia that one of your fleet might not actually be on your side?

(actually, that sounds kind of fun...)

All the more reason for the devs to get off thier .... and fix the bug that gives Imps the TIE deed and the HX-wing badge!.

If this isn't fixed soon I'm considering buying a HX-wing deed just so I get something outa the deal, I'm sick of staring at my un-generatable royal guard TIE deed all day.

I'm very ashamed to have an alliance badge in my profile.. makes me want to cry!

(Hehehe.. that wazs the beauty of having the Firespray cross cert'ed btw, made people confused for a few seconds wether I was Imp or Reb a few times... now I'm all popular and stuff.. they know better! Unless...... goes out, buys All-in-One pack, grinds out Rebel pilot.. Muhahahahahahaha!!!!!!)

I agree completely. I think all neutral ships should be flyable by everyone, and that TIEs and Letter-Wing ships should work just like faction armor does now. The ships are made by SW, but you have to spend faction before you can fly it the first time.

I think that bstrike and other specials that call ships should be replaced with space faction pets also.

As a neutral pilot and a neutral ground-person (no idea what the correct term is there), I really like having ships that Imperials and Reels can't fly. I'd love a Devastator, but not that much.

You're suggesting taking away B-strikes?

....... Dude, you realise by saying that your putting yourself on the forum BH terms right?

Thanfkfully, however, SOE is at least smart enough not to do that.

My ground profession, Ranger, has already been through this (we have had camo, snare and root abilities, concealment/radar invisibility optionsand super-harvesting taken away as exclusive skilslsand/or given to other professions). I don't want to deal with that in space either- Krayt gunship, dunelizard, Ixyen attack craft, all mine mine mine mine.

And b-strike taken away would simply result in pure havoc within the pilot community.

Personally, I'd gladly give up the free tie bombers for the ability to have my own personal squadron of faction-paid Tie Oppressors that I could call and send away whenever I wanted.
