Thread: Ace Qualification Mission
Its up to you how you do it!
If you are a rebel pilot its very easy!
Get an awing, stick an advanced blaster and mark 3 proton launcher in as weapons. Add a crafted shield about 1800-1900 f/b, stick in a decent engine.
Go to Kessel and activate RO3, WO3, CO3, and EO3 (or RO4 and EO4 if you can).
Now wait for the corv to turn up!
When you see it target its no.5 (bottom) gunspot. Begin your attack run straight at the lvl5 gun from the corvs (relative) underneath. The corvs guns can hit you at 1000m so start dodging, any hits just shield shunt them away! When you get within range you hit IFF scramble and this stops the gunboats, fighters and corv shooting at you.
Fly along the route the corv takes at the same speed and slightly below and behind the 5th gun. Lock up the gun with a proton torp and let fly also hitting it a couple of times with your guns to blow it up. Now go full throttle straight ahead and push your stick up- to go downwards a little.
When you are at about 500-1000m out begin your run on the shield and secondary shield from the front of the corv and below its top side guns depression. Repeat until shields and secondary shields are down.
Whip in behind the corv and take out its engine.
Now fly away and dogfight those TIEs.
Once the TIEs are done you can look around and see that the gunboats have merrily carried on leaving the disabled corv alone. Go in and use your remaining protons to take out the reactor and bridge and the mission is done.
ALWAYS REMEMBER to kill the 2 gunboats after this or the spawn becomes bugged!
If you arent rebel you have to come up with some other way of distracting the badguys as you attack, probably the best way is to pick up some extra flying shields for your ship (otherwise known as wingmen)!

Pick a small, light ship, something fast. I did it as an Imperial with a heavy TIE. You don't need high firepower for this beast.
1. Make a short pass to pull away the escort fighters. Boost off and blow them up.
2. Return from the rear of the corvette, using the engines as a blind spot. Target turret 5 and blow it up, just swoop out from behind the engines.
3. While you're underneath the vette, take out those two side cannons. Dunno if they do anything but fire forward, but they're easy targets.
4. Take out the two gunboats from below.
5. Swing out to the sides of the vette and take out the shields and secondary shields.
6. Come up from the engines FAST and do a dive to take out the reactor, continue under the ship to where you're safe. Swing out along the front and take out the bridge.
This is the strategy I use. I can almost do it in my sleep. No specials, no missiles, no wingmates. Use a small fast ship, and it's easier to dodge the vette's guns. Make sure you have good shields.
I CANNOT do ANYTHING solo. Seriously, a single gunboat turns me to ribbons, so it's gauranteed I'll need help. I have two friends I know will help me as they need to bring down the vette two, all three of use have ETA-2's.
I guess what I really need to know is, what is the escort of the vette itself like, it's usually escorts that bring me down rather than a target, I can avoid a big ships guns fairly easy usually.

Okay I need to be more specific it seems..

Your joking right?
Seriously, if you are in the ETA/JSF, you should not get blown up that often.
I recommend you make some master pilot buddies that know how to do this mission.
