Thread: Second day in the game, absolutely hooked on being a pilot!

Well my very first day playing was last night. I logged in, finished the newbie mission that shows you a bit of everything.
When I got to the end the guy asked me if I wanted to learn to be a pilot.......
WOW.....I had so much fun! I did the first 2 imperial pilot missions and had a blast. I even helped a new guy figure out how to land back on tatooine (like 5 seconds after I figured it out, hehe)
I have a few questions reguarding my future pilot carreer.
First of all, I have a perma-co-pilot (read girlfriend) who also started playing with me. My co-pilot has absolutely no direction sense at all, and will never be able to fly her own. As a novice Imperial, how can I get a ship for both of us to fly in, and when. Not sure on this off the top of my head
Second, can we do missions/quests together and both get credit for them if she isn't flying herself? Yes hte exp is divided out by ship, so you each get half of what you would get by yourself for each kill
Third, do the 2 man ships have a gun for both players to control? All of them that I know of except the yacht (which has no guns at all)
Fourth of course, would it be better for us to start off doing something other than imperial for our duo. Of courseand I can say for sure you could fly together at 1xxx as a rebel (Y-wing)
Thats it for now.
Thanks in advance!
Yeah, you do lose all of your pilot skills. Wierd fanatics like me enjoy the grind though.
Here's a good (shamelessly promoted) guide for ya:

where did you start your pilot squadron. if you started at bestine tatooine your going to find that once you get to the 2222 final mission your not gonna be able to do it. its way hard. i ended up doing my pilot starter out of talus imperial out post, thas about tthe easiest one.
and as a side note i would like to ask you, what made you choose swg as your newest game.
As an Imp Ace I suggest you stay Imp. If that is where your heart is, and how you think you want to play the game, then go for it. Don't change just because of what ships you get at which level, etc...
The TIE Aggressor at Tier 4 of the Imp tree is not a bad ship. I just eqiupped one to take some of my lower level pilot guild friends up in. 120K MASS, pilot with a gun and a rear facing gunner seat with a gun. Think WWI air combat with the Red Baron. I can tell you from working a turret in a Decimator.....if your not controling the ship along with the gun...it's tough to consistantly hit much. But still fun.
The Freelance ships and Rebel ships both have more mass than the Imp ships. This puts us at a disadvantage but that is what helps make it all the more fun.
One thing to consider if you stick with Imp. You can declare yourself (go overt basically) and then go into space. You can then 1) gain pilot xp while killing stuff; 2) gain faction xp while killing rebels (this lets you move up in Imp rank); 3) you can look ship components while your doing all this.....to either have them RE'd for use in your own ships or you can sell them back to the Chassis dealer for 1K per component level...so a level 4 engine for instance brings 4K. Does not sound like much but it adds up fast. At higher levels you can loot 30-40 items in a session pretty easy....level 8, 9, and 10 stuff...suddenly your earning 300K a session doing something you enjoy AND gaining faction at the same time.
Sometimes starting out in the game you don't think about how your really going to earn a steady income....if you love pilot this one is a viable alternative regardless if you go imp, reb, or freelance.
Good luck and welcome to the game!

Elsewise, you can fly a Y-wing as a T1 reb or a Krayt as a Master Privateer.
Sorry, off topic, but I have to ask about your sig. I see we're on the same galaxy. Do you actually know of a vendor that sells Heavy Z-95s? I sure haven't found any..

OK, so the main thing I want to say is that I want it so that my GF and I can fly together (only reason I consider switching factions), with me as a pilot, with a gun, and her with an extra gun, so she "feels like she is helping" (shhhhh). I guess I'd end up going the way that would let me do that the easiest, or atleast as long as I can do it at some point if I go Imperial.
And why is Gorash or whatever bunk? What would you recommend for a possible Future Imperial guy!
To answer the what got me into it:
What got me into SWG as my game was my interest in Star Wars (Never a devoted follower, but saw all of the movies and enjoyed them). I originally didn't want to try another SOE game right after EQ for a while, so I steered clear of it. I doubt I would have stayed very long if I did and JTL was not out. Ground game is "bleh" in most MMO's after you do it a few times, but having the option to do pilot as well, is really getting me pumped up now thatI decided to try it. I guess you could consider it the new movie and hype getting a moderate star wars fan into it.
Keep in mind, I'm a complete noob to SWG! So I don't know all the fancy names and such!
Ok, listen buddy, you get me your sweetie's AIM and between Arsani and I we will have her vaping your butt in no time ![]()
And you think I am kidding, don't you?
As far as having your girlfriend in the same ship as you, your best bet is probably to go Rebel. The tier 1 Y-Wing has a turret in it she'll be able to fire from. As has already been mentioned, Imperials and privateers don't get a ship like that until tier 4 and master pilot, respectively.
When it comes to servers, I'm partial to Starsider, myself.
