Thread: lvl8 Engines vs lvl10 Engines??

a few months ago I got my hands on a nice RE'd lvl 10 engine. Prior to this I had retired the old RE'd pre nerf6 and was working on an 8 for my PVP fighter. But after slapping that 10 into my fighter I was addicted.

As I've been collecting 8's and 10's it seems aside from the mass that 10's are the way to go for the heavier fighters. I have also heard of RE'd lvl8s getting into the 80+ PYR range but haven't seen any personally. Any truth to that? Have I just not found the right 8's yet or should I keep hunting for 10's? Is it just a question of mass between the two? I can easily squeeze my RE'd 10 into a B-22 or RGI and still have enough room for PVP quality shields and weapons.

If 8's are better for fighters I'll keep hunting for them. At the very least for my Interceptor. If not I'll just keep my fighters loaded with the lvl10.

8's are good if mass is an issue. I use a nice PYR 79 speed 98 lvl 8 in my low mass fighters, but I'm currently working on getting a nice lvl 10. I've got enough for PYR 85+ but I cant seem to find a fast level 10 engine atm. i want at least 95+.

the level 8 will go in the likes of my JSF, BB-22, while the level 10 will go into my KSE and Krayt.

That's exactly the reason I PvP in my Heavy X. I'm packing a 100.4 speed 82 YPR Level 10.

And that is exactly why the heavy X is the only ship that makes me a bit nervous when I see it. It's a shame more people don't use them.

Its because yeh..the Heavy X has awesome potential, but due to the slower r,p,y acceleration [compared with the jsf etc]and large hitbox it doesn't appeal to new pilots. If you can compensate with an uber lvl 10 engine, it really does kick a** though. I find they're almost invincible with a wingman too. Myself and another pilot were flyign Heavy X's in DS the oher day and we were basically lining up JSF kills and even a few RG TIE kills. The huge weapon spread on the X-wing is awesome for hitting that real small RG TIE hitbox.

However...I still prefer my lvl 8 engine'd A-wing. If I had a bit more mass to play with, I'd use a lvl 10 engine in the A-wing but then I doubt I'd be able to fit in a gun which could actually score damage

Small ships can squeeze in a lvl8 engine, not a lvl10.

Level 8 in general is very weight efficient.
