Thread: Ion/Disrupter Combo Idea/Question

i am sitting here thinking about ways to equip a PVP tie-advanced, and i came up with an idea.


my joystick has a dual stage trigger on it, so withthe guns grouped right, i fire one just a hair faster than the second one.



now the weapon loadout i am considering is a mkIV quickshot Ion cannon and a mkIII quickshot disruptor.


heres the math on a pvp hit with a 1500-2600 .75EvS quickshotmkIV ion

1500dmg x .75[EvS] x 2[wo3] x .75[pvp] =1687 max applied dmg per hit to shields

to

2600dmg x .75[EvS] x 2[wo3] x .75[pvp] =2925 max applied dmg per hit to shields


so the ion would hit for anaverage of 2300 shield dmg.


the disruptor with 1100-1600 dmgwould hit for 1125-1800 or 1462 average armor damage.


is my math right? cause im thinking that in a pre-rotw shippvp battle this combo would one shot almost anyone in a small fighter (ie awing t/a orsquint). the tricky part is getting the ion to hit first. for bigger targets it might be wise to move up to a mkIV disruptor. i could also swap the disruptor for a l5 or 6 re gun, but then i lose the refire rate advantage.

What's your usual ping? Shorter or longer than the hair faster on the first trigger?


My guess is that they'll be counted as a single shot so 2 crafted blasters would do the same damage as an ion/disruptor combo. Would work if you stick them in a seperate group and hook your trigger to fire and cycle weapon group.

Without getting into specifics, i remember toyin with the ion/disrupter combo in the same weapon grouping a long long long time ago, and ultimatly decided looted RE was better.

In this instance it seems were talking about a quick 1/2 punch. (not both guns neccesarly being in the same group) Its an intresting idea on paper.

What i remember was something like:

Ion .2 armor / .7 shield
Dis .7 armor / .2 shield


Your shield damage if both are grouped is acutally .7 on the ion plus .2 on the disruptor. And vice versa for armor. Using one without the other reduces your total damage by the .2 mod. Conversley using a 6/6 gun had more consistant results, and higher damage if i remember correctly.

I havent messed with this in awhile so im probably waay out in left field.

isnt .72 the base EvS on an ion and cant itbe experimented up to .75 with ease (cap is .80x) since an ion get a bonus to EvS experimentation?
