Thread: Droid Program Question...

I'm a 4434 Freelance Pilot who is still a noob a droid programs. Firstly, after I finally got my programs running, I've found that they areawesome, and make life so much easier.Right now My Rihkxrryk has a lvl 8 flight computer with a v5 droid loaded with the following commands:

Weapon Capacitor Overload 4

Weapon Capacitor Reset

Weapon Overload 4

Weapon Overload Reset

Capacitor to shield Shunt 4/Reset

My question is, how much does running these programs actually hurt your ship's components? I've been to scared to use the overload commands as they cause weapon decay, so I've only used them in tight circumstances. They work great, but at what cost? I don't really want to decay my Borstel disruptors by running these programs too much, so I just want an idea of the situations you guys use them in, and how much is too much to use them. Does using them in tandem hurt your components more than using just one or two? Having all of those up and running simultaneously makes me a god, but again, I don't want to decay my components (which I spent a great deal of time and money searching for).

Thanks in advance.

Get rid of the resets, you dont need them.

The shunt does no damage, keep as is.

Install L3 overloads. They do less than 10hp damage to a component and can be repaired with no decay.

If you really want to use L4 overloads, wait until you master, and can pass through Deep Space for the free repair.

So you're saying I should keep all 3programs upat once all the time? I didn't know that about the level 3 programs, I'll certainly use the level 3 versions if they don't decay my items.

Drop the resets, they do absolutly nothing. Even if they actualy worked you would never use them.

make sure you get reactor OL, engine OL, and weapon OL.

Screw decay, what little decay is done is very insignificant. Unless your in the habbit of dieng allot your components will last forever.

Ok, I'll drop the resets and leave these programs running. Any more I should add to the mix? I've got plenty of reactor energy left, so I don't need to overload it... is there any other program I should run? These seem to be the best for offensive/defensive capability.

Standard procedure for a pilot using overloads is to launch in a system where you aren't about to do a mission, run Reactor, Engine, Weapon, Capacitor overloads, then proceed with whatever you plan to do in space. Each overload causes a small amount of armor decay, not permanent unless it is over 10pts of damage.

You need the reactor overload to support the extra drain caused by the other overloads. Shield reenforcement front is the only other program I added to my mix. It seems to help out against the killer gunboats (the ones that chace you).
