Hi i read somewhere that the corvette mission will not fail if you get killed in Kessel is this true? If so does that mean i can go back and getrepaired when necessary? Thx

Thats right. The corvette stays in spawn until it reaches its jump point, approx. 30 mins, or is destroyed. As long as you are in the Kessel system, within range of the 'vette and have caused some subsystem damage you will get credit for the mission, but you can jump out for repairs etc. at anytime........just make sure your back before it goes bang.

It might be ok to be in a group that damages it. I was busy dogfighting and only hit the vette once (no subsystems targetted), and I got credit.

you just have to be in the system with the mission active. doesn't matter if your within range, in the group, or do any damage whatsoever.

Nice to know you found this. I am still looking for someone brave enough to confirm this on a vette run I do. Have you confirmed this? if so could I get a few specifics so I can pass on....

If you went gunning for the Star Ravager on Starsider, I'd be the guinea pig.

From a number runs over the past few weekends getting people to master i'd suggest that:

- it doesn't matter how many times you leave the system (either by death or by hypering for repairs)
- it doesn't matter if you're grouped or not
- you have to be in system when it blows to get credit
- you have to have damaged it to get credit

I was out of system my first time the gang i was with blew it (i had blown some turrets but then died and didn't make it back) and I didn't get credit. That same run someone hadn't damaged it (was dealing with escorts) also did not get credit for it.

Now, if someone saw something different i'm not going to argue as I haven't tried every combination, but sticking to the above rules since then we've been able to pass everyone else i've tried with.

ive had people who were on the other side of kessel in the group get credit without sever seeing the vette, but then agian ive had people who were right there the whole time and helped take out components fail.

Well, about 2 weeks ago, there was a guy that was needing the mission and had been trying forever to get a good group. He was having no luck getting a group because of his later play hours... I finally decided I would pretty much do the mission for the pilot to help him get past the roadblock.

I was testing out a new x-wing setup in Kessel and saw the Ravager spawn a little over halfway through it's flight path. Sent him a shout to let him know to come into Kessel and I would help him get it done. Fired up all my programs and engaged, blew all of the fighters but one (which he took down as he arrived). I had moved in on the gunboats already and he took heavy damage trying to get position... So asked him to stay 1.2k out or so until I got the gunboats blown to not risk him dieing. We were less than 4k from the exit point at that time so couldn't risk him dieing from a mistake.

I hadn't had time to group him or vice versa due to the dmg he had taken and me pressing in as hard as I could to try and get the 'vette before she jumped. Fired off proton after proton blowing components and we both used guns on the engine, I was closer so I believe my cannons were the kill shot on the engines. Reactor and both shields went to my protons, but I had expended my payload. Shot out from behind the Ravager like a bat out of hell to get passed the guns that were still active to come in on a head on pass for the bridge. The pilot I was helping was about 750m or so jinking in and out of the vette drawing fire away from me... came in full on to the bridge and boom..... Silence and no mission complete.

I do not know if he had only hit invul parts on the vette (meaning hitting it but doing no actual damage), was too far away from me (being I was the one that did the most/all damage to the vette), or was not grouped with me.

Recap:

  • I did all damage to vette and all kills except one fighter

  • We were not grouped

  • He was within gun range of the vette when it blew (he was around 500m from the vette at actual destruction)

  • He was about 1k from me when I blew the bridge

  • He got no experience/mission credit

That is the best description I can do as it was a couple weeks ago, but hope that gets some information out. Maybe the best thing would be to ask the Devs what the requirements are verbatim to complete the mission as he did assist, was in system, and had the mission in his datapad but ungrouped. Grouping in a battle already in progress is not exactly the easiest thing to do especially when haste is needed.

The person I quoted I thought was spot on, but that one example I have makes me wary of the ungrouped part. The Devs should clarify what the mechanic is needed to complete that mission to be certain as there are too many variables as to what could have been the issue.

well.. on grouping.. i say that because as a mixed group of SAs & rebels I as a SA stayed out of the group so I wouldn't pull the rebels aggro early and had no problem getting credit

but like I said.. the above were just my own observations and conclusions that seemed to work

Oh wasn't arguing it, just stating that I have had a different scenario I have done it with a mixed group as well with the same results as you. Just wanted to make known an opposite scenario showing a discrepancy in what is needed so maybe we can get some clarification as to what is truely needed to avoid further mishaps. Was quoting you 'cause I agreed with 99% of it, and had a concern about the grouping aspect due to one experience out of over 60 vette missions.
