* Works like a patrol quest, you get a waypoint, you hit it, you go on to the next

* All pilots are in "Battle Royale" (factionless) overt mode, but only to contestants (not overt non-participants)

* Invulnerability for the first 2 minutes of the race

* One or more Waypoints in every system

* All E-Pulses are disabled for participants

* No decay, but if you die you are out of the race.

* All NPCs are argo, and some waypoints are going to be in T5 droid fighter swarms

* Winner gets a badge of course, and atrophy with name, date, ship typeand speed in the description

* 500k entry fee, winner takes all

I think it would make a great monthly event.

Variations:

Triatholon: Race, Shoot & Loot (like the patrol system above, but you have to kill swarms, get kill-counts)

(Maybe Race, shoot and mine but that could be....not so much fun)

Scavanger Hunt: You have a list of items you need to loot, and you have to loot them all without landing on a planet. Having them isn't enough, it only gets crossed off the list when you loot it during the race.

Racing Teams: Identical to the main event but players have teams, and cannot hurt each other within their group. A team member can drop out of the race, but until they do, every team member must hit each waypoint on the list. If the team wins, each team member gets a trophy, with their name and the team's name in the description.

If everyone really wants to know who has the fastest engines, the best PYR, and the quickest reflexes... /sign in favor of this event.

Additional note:
It would be great if after a race, a race coordinator NPC was around somewhere on the ground who could give "The last race's course" as a practice run mission....for people who are not sure if they are up for it and want to practice to see how close they can come to getting the best time in.Of course, they would be doing it solo and not have any special overt status.....but it would be a great way to practice
