You don't decay on death anywhere, you decay when you repair. Its a fine linedistinction, but an important one. If you blow up anywhere, Kashyyyk, Dantooine, Dathomir, even Naboo/Rori, you can limp your broken ship to Deep Space, do a quick in andout, and youyou'regolden. As long as your reactor and engine are minimally functional after your die, you can pull this off. If worse case happens, do a minimal repair, just to get mobile, then head out to the Deep Space stations.

I have had decay still kick inagainst me on a Deep Space run. However, the only components I've noticed this on are looted armor. None of my crafted components have ever suffered unrepairable damage coming out of Deep Space.

Stop worrying so much about decay! What are you going to do, leave that shiny new Actis sitting in the hanger because you're afraid to lose a few HP? Big deal. It's a ship, it's meant to blow up.

These threads come up every day, andI don't see the point.

Use it and enjoy it. It only decays to 10 anyhow, and as numerous people have pointed out in the past - at the point your chassis is taking hits, 10 pts or 1000pts, you're likely dead either way.

Components are another story, they can take months to get the perfect setup. But the chassis? Just deal with it and enjoy your ship!

The chasis is never going to decay to the point of uselessness. So I don't see the fear. Besides what is the point of having a combat ship if you are worried about taking damage? *BOGGLE*

this really annoys me too. you wouldn't believe the # of pilots i talk to that protest dying or PVP or anything else under the sun because they don't want their precious obi wan ship to decay.

can they code a warning box that comes up and says "decay means nothing! don't worry about decay! you'll always have your ship!"?

i'm at the point where i'm ready to say "remove chassis decay from the game entirely". would that hurt SW's who make some business off players unwittingly purchasing new ships because of decay? maybe. would it help get people up in space and fighting? definately.

why don't the devs get that decay on an entire ship (one rare or likely to cost a fortune) is not a fun mechanic and it's keeping players out of space? it doesn't matter that decay really means nothing, because players don't know, and even if you tell them they don't like seeing the #s go down.

I think there have only been two times that I've lost all my shields and armor and not been destroyed.

The first was in a TIE Fighter in Storm Squadron, trying to take out Kimogila's Claw. I didn't realize the Claw's weapon could still shoot after taking out the reactor. A friend (who was helping me) took out the weapon just in time. I think I would have been destroyed in one more shot.

The second time was in a Y-wing, and chassis hit points did come into play on this one. When crafting the Y-wing, I had accidently used all my experimentation points on hp instead of mass (wasn't paying attention, I meant to put them in mass), so I ended up with 3000+ hp. Only once did I lose my shields and armor in it, and I got shot a couple of times after that before I could make the jump into hyperspace. (I actually never died in that ship, even though I used it for all the Tier 3 missions. Y-wings are surprisingly good if you know how to handle them.)

Overall, I agree with those who claim that chassis hp is essentially useless. It's very rare to get to the point of needing chassis hp and not be destroyed.

It will never decay below 10 chasis points. In deep space it doesn't decay at all; however, on two occaisions I died in deep space and as soon as I respawned I just blew up and then got decay anyways, so there is a rare bug that can cause a decay death, but in general you should be fine.
