Thread: How do you capture a transport?

I've run several space missions. There seems to be three distinct variations: escort, patrol (search-destroy), and capture. It is the third variant that I can't seem to complete. Upon arriving in the area, I successfully engage and destroy the target transport's escorts. I also successfully disable the transports engines. However, after this, I'm lost. I've waited a full 45mins for something to happen. I've tried docking as well as conversing with the target transport, but neither works. What am I supposed to do?

I just read another post with the same problem. The answer on that post was to disable the ship and fly really close. Just to avoid ripping anyone, I have done this. I've disabled the ship's engines and sat spitting distance of the ship. It is true. It couldn't have been a glitch, as I've tried three or four capture missions.

Typically, after disabling in some missions, you either have to /inspect or /dock before you can proceed on. Not always, but occasionally.

I've also tried both /inspect and /dock. Upon attempting /inspect, I am merely told what, if anything, the transport is carrying. Upon attempting /dock, I am told that the ship refuses my request to dock. I've tried this while in combat-mode with the transport as well as outisde of combat-mode. Either way, I received the same message.

I've discovered my error. I was manually targeting the transport's engines and fired until the engine read-out was 0% (or until it stopped moving). Apparently, I needed to use the targeting computer to attack the engine block. I don't see any difference in game. Well, by using the computer the hijackers eventually take the ship.

I now have another question. Are these capture missions endless? I realize that techinally all "Duty Missions" are endless, but enemy ships continued flying in. I was fighting over 32 enemy ships, most of which I couldn't even target until firing upon. Also, the capture mission I took was a special assignment given by the Tatooine Station manager. I'm just wondering if there are simply a horde of enemy fighters you must pass in order to complete the mission, or if I'm making another mistake.

your datapad will tell you if your mission is a Duty mission, right click on the mission and notice if theres a "End Duty" option on the radial.

Most stations have these kind of Duty missions, but they also have special missions.
One is if your Smuggler Alliance 2221 and talk to the Tatooine station, you can get a mission which will allow you access to Jabbas palace because your Tier 3 Trainer is in there.
