Thread: Cap to POB Ships?

I could understand capping the amount of ships you are storing things in, however, if you didn't decorate the Y-8 you should still be able to fly it and use it as it was intended. Hopefully we'll get some clarification on this stuff soon and hopefully a fix.
I can understand that too, actually.
But I can't understand why the veteran rewarded yatch would have to count towards the cap for that though... And a cap at two ships is a bit low now that we can have more ships in our datapad.

Funny, we had a thread going on this issue either in this forum or the shipwright forum, and most people agreed that it would be acceptable to cap POB ships at 2 or 3 as long as we got more slots for fighters and such. So what it pretty much boils down to is that we've got what we wanted already.

Well you got what you wanted..... This is really annoying me and others who saw the 6 slots as a way to be able to keep the sorosuub we have stubbornly been holding onto since JTL launched. Despite its shortcommings, the yacht is still a nice party boat. The Y8 is awesome, and they will have to pry my YT from my cold dead fingers. Hence my dilemma and frustration. I can see them not wanting people to havesix 100 item ships but now they have at least three unique ships that fall into this category as such the cap should be at least 3, or just make it where you can not have two of the same multiplayer ship thus removing the need for a cap and still allowing players to enjoy the ships they qualify for.
Each ship has a unique roll:
Yacht - Parties
YT/Decimator/Nebula - Fighting/Smuggling
Y8 - Mining
The YT does not do parties well due to the small size of the rooms, the only good room for parties on the Y8 is the bridge and people would interfere with the crew.
The Yacht does not fight, the Y8 does not fight well.
The Yacht can not mine, The YT would be ungainly at best.

So either I'm really bugged or theDevs have "stealth capped" POB ships without telling anyone.

Doh, it seemed I missed your point at first. I can see why they include the yacht in the cap though, because like all POB ships you can store stuff on it, and that's a database issue. I would imagine the reason they limit you from taking off in a third POB ship is because even if it's empty, there's the potential for you to drop items in it once it's launched. That, or it's a bug

Again: I could agree with that, as long as the SoroSuub isn't part of the count towards the cap.
We shouldn't have to choose between a veteran reward or a "real" pob ship. The veteran reward should be just that: A veteran reward that those who own it can use at their leisure. Hell, they shouldn't even count towards the total ship count at all.

I wouldn't really have such a problem with the cap if the Devs, you know... told us. Not just cap it and not tell anyone. We need this information.

From what I've heard we can only have one decorated POB ship, and all the others just have to be totally empty to fly with it.
Why didn't an dev tell us about this?? I want to go out space mining, but there's no way I will remove my beautiful decorations from my Decimator or Sorosuub. And now I get this message, that I cant fly it.... right....
I didn't pre-order ROTW for nothing devs! I wanted those 6 shipslots so wouldn't have to sacrfice my sorosuub or more, but if this is the cost, it's just totally NOT worth it.
I can understand that the devs want to hold back on the free item storage, but just put back the lot use for POB ships, or at least for the craftable POB ships (not the sorosuub, its still a reward... but the way this goes not a very fair reward I'd say).
I hope we get a clear answer soon.

I've been able to have two decorated POB ships. This was change back before the JtL BETA test had even ended. The Devs found a way to allow players to have multiple decorated POB ships, and that was to have them use structure lots. Later on they took away the requirement of POB ships taking structure lots, but we could still freely decorate multipe POB ships.
I can understand putting a limit on POB ships to decrease database size and to limit players on how much they can store. However, we need to be told this. We can't just find out and wonder if we're bugged or if it's meant to be like that. The Devs should've said "you can have as many POB ships as you want, but only two can be decorated at a time", and they would've let everyone know that exactly. But they didn't say anything and we had to find this out for ourselves.
I'm still not convinced this isn't a bug, with as many bug as the Y-8 currently has. It wouldn't surprise me at all. If it is a bug, then it needs to be fixed. If it isn't a bug, then the Devs need to tell us this.
Currently my brand new Y-8 is sitting uselessly on Kashyyyk. I can't travel or launch with it. I can't even re-deed it. I refuse to take decorations out of any of my POB ships until a Dev comes straight out and says "this is a bug and it will be fixed" or "this is not a bug, this is intended".
I'm not too happy about this. ![]()

Alright, I just got a reply from CSR-TaylorK through a ticket I submitted. He said that this is a known issue that the Devs are working on and it'll be fixed ASAP. Then he suggested I watch the launch pad for any updates.
The ticket was closed so I couldn't reply and ask if POB ships where capped. But, by what he said, I'm assuming it's a bug. Guess we'll all find out...
