Thread: Freelance Smuggler looking for a little advice

I am currently a 2323 Freelancer. I have enough xp to get trained up to 3323 or 2333. I am currently flying a Dune Lizard.(I guess that makes me a tier 2?)
Does anybody have some advice on the best way to proceed, I was hoping to hit Freelance Ace and then AllianceAce.
I need to get some good equipment and a bigger ship to continue advancing, I am getting killed outright on the Jabba Missions.
Thanks in advance
The Dune Lizard is the biggest ship till you hit tier 4 and many people have used their's up to Master level.
You need the best shields, engine, weapons and reactor you can loot or buy. And you need a fast droid interface, since you HAVE to use droid commands to succeed! Buy yourself some shield command chips and weapon overload command chips (or have a friend with those command program them for you) and then use your own cap overload and cap-to-shield commands as well. I used (and am stillusing)the Shield Adjust Rear - Moderate and putting better armor in the front armor slot. And while a fast engine is good for getting you out of trouble, most fighting is going to be done at 1/2 or 2/3 throttle for manuverability (and at 1/3 throttle for faster ships making passes at you). Use the component selection keys to select their engines and disable them first, once they are all disabled do a quick mop-up pass and take them out.
Last thing is setup a hotkey to hyperspace within the sector (close to the station) so that you can repair and get back into the mission. As long as you don't leave the sector the mission goes on. Beware though, they might find you before you find them again!
Good luck!

Thanks guys, I think I need to find a better Dune Lizard, and bigger reactor, capacitor and shields. My current shields are about 890-900 front and rear. my cap is 1001 I have plenty of Mass left but my 11000+ reactor is not going handle more powerfull components. I use Cap to Shield Shunt 3 like crazy. So I am unable to keep up a good firing rate. No missles or Chaff yet
Use your cap overload (but repair it after you land since it causes damage, no decay if you don't use Cap Overload 4, only up to 3). This will increase the cap reserve AND speed up the recharge rate, it's a MUST have droid program. Also get Weapon Overload.

Ooohhh, So if repair my Components on the ground it doesn't decay?
Please tell me this correct, cause I used Cap OL 3 the other day and I have yet to repair it.
All of my components are looted(pre-nerf), So I have only had to purchase Chasis so far.
(Yes, I am a Space Loot Ho)
Cap OL 3 does less than 10 points of damage, so if you repair it before you incure any other damage you will avoid decay. If you use it twice without repairing it the total damage will be about 16 points (8x2) and you will get 1 point of decay when you repair it. I use a Re'd Level 2 cap that's real fast recharge and a goodly amount of energy storage (and is VERY light for the amount of energy storage it has). This also means low armor points and low HP so even 1 point of decay at a time will make the cap worthless to me.
If you do forget to fix it more before re-using the overload, drop by a space station and have them repair the minimum amount of damage (1/4 I think) until they they are charging less than 3 credits per repair. Repairing less than 10 points at a time also avoids damage, so repair a little at a time until you have less than 10 points then finish the repair yourself.
