Thread: Negative Pilot experience

Yesterday I decided to leave the Imperial faction. I unloaded my ships and redeeded them. Talked to the recruiter to resign my post within the Empire.

Five minutes later, I'm told that my resignation is complete and that I lost my banked Starship Combat experience. No big deal, I expected it.

But the amount of experience lost was a bit off. I had one million experience banked. I expected to lose one million. Instead, I lost 1100000 experience.

Upon joining the Alliance and the squadron based off of Mos Espa, I checked my skills sheet. Negative 100k pilot experience.

I completed the beginner quests and received my first free skill box. Is this intentional? Do I really have to grind out of an experience debt that rivals most low level Jedi?

That rivals most low Jedi? Go to Kessel, bring a friend, have them disable ships and kill. It'll take about 15-20 ships to get out.

Where as Jedi if you get killed by a Bounty Hunter, such as yourself, you're looking up to 700 thousand debt. Which is about 3.5 million Pistol Experience. Try grinding that out with a low DPS weapon, Force Cost, and you need to do it alone. For fear, of course, of being killed again.

Anyway, just go to Kessel and have a friend disable ships for ya.

Maestro, my Tarq toon, is a Jedi. A low level one as well. Mission payout for him is 78k, or 156k experience debt. Close enough

I must respectfully disagree.

Even at tier-2 I could earn 100k pilot in an hour. With the good gear and twitch skills you no doubt already possess, I'm sure you can make at least 100k/hour. If you can't, you can certainly find a friend to (as mentioned above) disable a few ships for you, and you're set.

On the other hand, as you must already know, you can not make 100k Jedi exp in an hour - if you're a low level Jedi. After the CU, I'm hard-pressed to make 100k an hour with my template-complete Jedi, and before the patch I could top 3.5k/minute.

Pilot is relatively easy to re-earn. If you die ten times in reaching your 100k goal, you're no further away than you were before your first death. If you die ten times regaining lost Jedi exp, you spiral further and further down. If you group as a pilot, you'll smoke along for experience. If you group as a Jedi, you can set your clock by the attacks BH's will press upon you.

I have, and will continue to, look at my time in space as the enjoyable reward to my less-than-fun grind through Jedi. Granted, I can enjoy my Jedi now on the ground that I'm done grinding, but Space had no strings attached, and still doesn't. I love it.

Regardless, there shouldn't be any such thing as negative experience in space, and I'll pass this along shortly. Anyone else been affected by this? Or has anyone else switched squadrons in the last few days and not gone into negative experience? More info's always useful.

You were Inspired at the time weren't you?

*snicker* I don't mean to laugh at your pain, but man that was a bad bit of coding on their part.

Ran into the same problem leaving Alliance Ace Pilot. Trained up novice imperial pilot and I now have (approximately) -1 million rebel prestige and -120k starship combat experience.

ROFL. Oh man, that's it, isn't it?

Just to hazard a guess, that isn't working as intended.

Should also add I'm laughing at the general situation that's caused the problem and not anyone in specific. I've summarized the issue and passed it along. Hm, think I'll get a sticky up warning people about this, too.

By the way, if anyone who's been struck by this bug can confirm they had an inspiration buff on them at the time, it'd be most appreciated. Also, if by chance anyone has gone into negative experience when dropping pilot and are certain they weren't Inspired at the time, let me know that too. The inspiration buff thing jibes completely with a couple other similar situations I've heard about, but I could use confirmation on this thing.

I was not inspired at the time I resigned from the Empire.

To the other poster about getting the 100k pilot xp back in an hour; Yes I know all I have to do is goet that one shot in on a Tier 3 or 4 ship. Hard part for me is finding someone who can be bothered to go up and let me cheese for the xp. I feel guilty enough doing this same type of trick to get Jedi xp.

I'll probably get the xp back by piloting long before a CSR can fix the problem. I'm just glad you're aware of the issue, Tomo. Thanks!
