I have tested this over and over, when flying my beloved Belbullab 22..

Opponents DO NOT take damage from any other shot but to front and back!!!

How to get ships to take damage?

the only way is to get right in behind em and blast away!

or right infront of em,the damage is taken correctly then.

Um ... I've killed lots of ships from the side.

Check your pipe ... is there crack in it?

I kill things from the sides, top and bottom all the time.

I heard this same thing back in beta and I swear even then I could kill just fine from the sides.

I think this is happening with all of the new quest ships. I have several of them and it happens with all of them. I would submit a ticket except you are only able to submit one at a time and it takes like three tries to get a CSR to read one before they close it...

Nope, I've hit something from directly above with my Arc (But trust me, with no weapon convergence, it is HARD). Though I generally find shooting at something directly from the front or back is more effective.

Hmmm... maybe due to the extreme maneuverability of the new ships what Ducimus tried to point out actually happened. It's basically the old top/bottom bug but it is quite possible that it is latency issues. The server is too slow for the ships maybe?

This is usally a symptom of lag. The ship you are shooting at is not really where it appears to be. With zero deflection (front or back) it is possible to hit it still the ship since your shots will pass though it at some point. With any amount of deflection however, you won't get any hits since the ship you are shooting at is not where you think it is. I am the king of lag in space... soI am pretty sure this is what your problem is.

this is the case im sure....ive also ran into the same thing.....the target's shields even flare like a firework show and still 100% shields........basically your client program is telling you that you are hitting it....but the server is disagreeing........try backing off a little bit, for me is seems to get worse the closer i am to the target

the lead indicator is almost never accurate, mostly due to lag, but also because it doesnt take into account the target changing direction.

when you are lining up a shot, aim about 3/4rths of the way between your target and the lead indicator, and then as you are shooting walk your fire out past the lead indicator until you start to score hits. once you find the correct spot to aim, pour shots into it until the target is dead.

Somewhat related, the Royal Guard Interceptor NPCs in the Kashyyyk near an Imperial base (not the overseer one) are just impossible to hit. i watch my shots go through it's geometry, or register as glancing hits via shieldsplashes but no damage. I have to hit like one point on it to do any damage. What is going on
