Ok, I'm having trouble ejecting from my ship. Is there a special trick, or handshake that I need to know?

I've clicked the "Eject" button when it popped up.

I've clicked and held it down when it popped up.

I've mashed it until my ship when kablooey when it popped up.

I even found a bindable key labled something like "Launch Escape Pod" and tried that to no avail.

I'm getting tired of 800 wounds everytime I get blown up.

Most likely your Radar is partially covering the Eject (by default it does cover it on some resolutions)

Try moving the Radar farther down and see if Eject works.. I think you can also type /eject (or something similar) to manually do it.

I'll try that the next time I get into serious poodoo.

I could swear though that the button appears to change from red to yellow and that I hear a clicking sound.

when you eject it is the SAME as being destroyed just you chassis and sub systems take no additional damage from eject on you actually did eject

The trick is finding a way to not eject

Unless you are dead in space you might want to stick around. Especially on missions. I know I have succeeded a couple of missions with the eject button staring me in the face and about all that was working was the engines

Your statement reminds me of a video I saw where apilot flew an F15 Eagle home with only one wing after a mid-air collision. It was spewing fuel out of the starboard side where the wing should be, the pilot had no idea. His wing man just said keep going. The only thing keeping him in the air was the size of that aircraft'sbelly, elevators, and hisincredible speed.

I guess there is a benefit to building our Americanvehicles toowide and powerful.

"/escapepod yes" should kick you out and to the space cloners. I once jousted and killed a Rebel and was left with no reactor, but for some reason I wasn't able to eject despite the big red button on my screen. After floating there a while and messing around for a while more, I eventually stumbled over that command and was able to eject.

Though in any situation where I can still move I'd never eject. Not when my other options are making a daring escape or going down with the ship.
