Shipwrights. They use it to make better mining lasers, tractor beams, and cargo holds. Plus those "asteroid chunks" you sometimes loot are used in creating new paint/texture kits.

I got the distinct impression from the quest giver that there is an NPC to sell to as well.

So, the resources from mining only allow better items for mining to be made, mostly?

There's a list of all the Shipwright crafted items requiring asteroid resources there in the Shipwright forum.

As for the NPCs, there is a space station in every system with a name like [Something] Outpost. Talking to those stations allows you to sell the contents of your cargo hold.

There is also Outpost Stations in space that will buy your resources. They are not a POI, you have to hunt them down and you cannot revome your cargo or they will not buy.

So before you mine, make sure you are getting what SW will want, and anything they don't want, don't unload just find the outpost. They have set prices. So, you won't be able to sell for millions on the bazaar, but that is just dumb anyways. No one in there right mind pay that price. lol

Asteroid resources are pretty rare on my server. There is none available to buy using GVS and the 500 unit stacks on the bazaar go for 40 CPU. I don't know what the NPC stations are paying, but I doubt it tops 40 CPU.

the max a station is 23 cpu for Diamondonly,on the ones i found so far. probably 25 cpu max.Iron astroid is only 2 cpu in the outposts. I don't know why mining is so rare for astroids on your server unless there is so few that bought the DD.

The mission quest to get the Y-8 and all the mining equipment is easy. Takes maybe two hours to do if you just use the reward equipment. faster if you have SW crafted equipment.

I dunno... people are mining the stuff, but no one is selling it on the bazaar or on any vendor that shows up on the Galatic Vendor Search. There is almost no one selling things like large cargo holds for fighters or MK II and MK III mining lasers either. My GF is a shipwright and she sells out the mining equipment she can make in no time. People are miningastroids on my server,I just haven't a clue what they are doing withthe mineralsonce they mine them. My GF and I would certainly paymore than 2 CPU for them.

And I also think they can be used to make POB ship parts better than mark V or so said an SW who i gave my resources to
