Thread: Space Mining Problems

I'm having trouble with space mining. Took mission from guy in Dearic cantina (Thom somebody, was sent there by corellian engineer pilot on kashyyk). He gave me mining laser and cargo hold. So, I outfit these and head into space towards a Silicaceous Asteroid. I blast and blast at thing and nothing seems to happen. There are some smaller chunks around and I can blast and blast at these and don't really seem to change anything and I have collected no resources. I tried shooting the smallest asteroid chunks laying around and I shot either misses, goes right through it, or seems to have no affect.

I am firing with only my Mark I mining laser.

I am doing something wrong or is this bugged?

Thanks

Blast the big astroid to get a medium astroid.

Blast the medium astroid to get small astroids.

Blast the small astroids to get resources.

If your blasting at a small astroid and nothing seems to be happening check to see if your near the space boundry.

Astroids that slide along the space boundry are near impossible to hit. You'll have to go back to the big astroid again and try to blow up the astroids a bit faster before the smaller bits start sliding on the border again.

Use X key to target astroids under your reticle to help make targeting a bit easier.

Thanks.

Not sure what I did wrong the first time or if there was just something wrong with the asteroid. First time, I blasted and blasted it and there was never anything targetable except it. Anyway, it worked now. Thanks for the pointers.

BTW. Do you know anyway to view the contents of your cargo hold?

Yeah, asteroids near boundaries really screw you over. The carbonaceous ones in Naboo space are like that.

If you blast away at the main asteroid for a long time and a medium chunk doesn't split off it may be that there are pieces flying about far from the asteroid.

You can shoot at it long enough and it will disappear and another will spawn that will let you take chunks off it again.

Sometimes shooting the big rocks does nothing. It is not you and it is not your equipment. There is some kind of weird bug that causes ZERO medium asteroids to spawn when you shoot the big ones. This has happened to me twice now, both times in Yavin. Try going to another system and mining something else. The other space sector should work normally the next time you visit it. I haven't bugged this in game since it is impossible for me to reproduce the problem. No idea what could cause it. Sometimes you just don't get any medium chunks.

FINALLY someone has been having the same problem as me! For about three days now, I haven't been able to get medium asteroids off of the main asteroids...in any sector for any ship for any asteroid. I sent in a ticket...says they know about the problem and are fixing it :/ Haven't seen much of the problem till now...if anyone has an idea let me know.

I've been seeing this a lot. I put in a ticket asking them to reset the rocks I was working.. (only source for that material) dinno if that was related, but they reset shortly after so I'm hopeful.

Possible work arounds: Find another asteroid of the same material. Often the problem dosen't follow you. Or, as mentioned, work on another type for a while.

I've seen this happen on occasion as well. No rhyme or reason, and in all sectors. What I have noticed that when this happens, if I just sit and hold the trigger down after a while the big asteroid blows up/goes poof.Haven't had opportunity to time how long this takes. It's not terribly long mind you, but does require alittle bit of patience.About 10 seconds after the big asteroid blows up, it respawns. After it respawns everything works again as normal. It might be possible that there is a bit of code in there to detect that the big asteriod has become non-functional and a reset is done.

Anyways, just what I have observed.

This begs the question, why are the asteroids situated near the boundaries?

I mean, come on, this isn't that hard to figure out. Why is the obvious so impossilbe for the developers of this game to grasp?
