Ya i tried.
I was majorly disappoined when i found i coudlnt damage /break off chunks with my MK III mining laser.
I took the same laser out of my nova, put it back in my b wing and was breaking off chunks again.
Id much rather mine in my Nova. (Higher payload capacity) =(

Ducimus, are you sure it wasnt just a bugged asteroid? i.e. did you /examine it, check the hit points and see them not dropping as you shot? If the hp are going down, just destroy it and mine the replacement.

yup, checked the HPS, and everthing, not a scratch. Went back up 2 mins later in my B wing on the same roid and blew it to pieces.
Read in another post a POB ship has to have someone in the pilots seat to be able to mine. Dunno if its true, but it would explain alot.

You can't break off chunks from an asteriod if it already has maximum number of chunks broken off.

LOL, no your missing the point. I (and apparantly others as well) couldnt even damage the astroid. At the very least i expect its hitpoints to drop when i shoot at it. (you know, so i can get another one to spawn!
) Sometimes they arent even doing that. Seems to be a problem with mining in POB ships.

ohh yeah, I'm having the same problem. Shot a roid for 4-5 minutes with no chunks flying off... then in comes another player in his fighter.... and i watch as a few chunks fly... needless to say I was not happy (although, I was in my y8)

Did you have someone in the pilot's seat? Apparently the turrets only work with mining lasers if there's someone piloting the ship.

Is it really a pob ship problem, as it is so much pob ship pilots wanting to fly it like it was a solo vessel.....

i think you need to have a pilot in the pilot seat for your turrets to break off chunks.
thats the case in the y-8 turrets anyway.

Which means its still bugged and broken. It will not make very good business for SW if pilots can't supply them with more than 1550 unit loads. very very slow construction.
