I'm doing what I'm pretty sure is the second tier 2 reb mission. For the guy inYavin 4 Labor Outpost. It's the one where you have to dock with an imperial shuttle and retrieve some data. I fly out to it and inspect it and it tells me that it has the data I need and I should /dock with it. Everytime I try to dock, the ship refuses to let me. Can anyone help me? I've been trying to do this mission for the last several days with no luck.

If you are a Rebel and the other ship is Imperial you have to initiate a "hostile dock" which means disabling the enemy craft before docking

How do I disable it? Is it just shooting it 'till it's disabled?

Disabling a ship isa skill which needs to be mastereed early if you plan on solo-ing or small group hunting big prey (Vettes, Gunships, etc.) Starfighters only have engines and reactors that are specifically targetable, but larger ships (POBs, Gunships) have exposed guns that can be blown off. Capitol Ships (Vette) has shield generator and the like that are targetable.
Steps to Disable:
- target the enemy ship like normal.
- use [ or ] to cycle through the subcomponents until you find the one you want (guns, engine, reactor). NOTE: Engines are usually better targets than reactors because theenemy will slow as damage is applied to it's engines.
- attack the enemy until it's shields and armor are gone. Further damage will be applied directly to the targetted subcomponents.
- once the engine/reactor is gone you will get a system message that your target has been disabled.
For a capture/dock mission you can now proceed as normal. Moving in close and waiting (capture) or using the /dock command (dock).

That worked!!! Thank You very very much!!
I guess things like this happen when you get the steam version of games, no manual to go over.
Thank you again!
