But I couldn't find it in the Pilot FAQ so here goes. Do the faction pilot helms have race restrictions on who can wear them, can a Trandoshan wear the Rebel helm? And do I have to be overt to equip it? Also Im guessing the helm is not compatible with jedi skills.

I've seen a Knight wearing the Tie Fighter helmet, so I'd assume that you can wear the rebel helmet. As far as race restrictions go, I think only Ithorians and Wookiees can't wear it.

Can any Trandoshans confirm wether they can or cannot wear a Rebel Ace Helm?

All species can wear the privateer and Alliance helmets. Only humans and Zabraks can wear the Imperial ace helmet.
