I have no problem with dying( did it a lot in the ground game), but after I fail a mission do they have to make me trek all the way out to the rebel outpost every time to redo the mission? Right now he is just giving me duty missions anyway. The first time I was using a Y-wing and died quickly.
As we all know the y-wing manuevers horribly, so I buy a z-95 and outfit it with the best stuff I can loot and trek back to the rebel outpost. Now I go the the mining post and launch into space. As I am trying to figure out why my HUD does not display the waypoint.( which I finally did) I get attacked by tier 4 ties ( I forget which type - died too quick ). How is someone to survive?
Can I just get some exp killing ties back in the naboo sector so that I can level up or do I have to do his misisons to level ? I know that I will have to do his misisons at some point. Is there an easier way to redo failed mission than treking back to the rebel base?
I find this frustrating. But, on a positive note - flying around a wrecked rebel frigate killing ties brought back great memories of Tie Fighter ( the original). Yes I am old - I played X-wing on floppy disk.

If your trainer is giving you duty missions, then you only need XP to proceed. You can get that XP anywhere.
If your trainer is giving you story missions, you have to complete the mission to proceed.

You can land at the abandoned base, just talk to the dantooine space station dude and do the missions he gives you.
