Alright, I'm setting up this Kihraxz for PvP. I figure if I can get the jump on people, or at least see them before they shoot me, this could be a pretty good ship. Don't try to argue with me cause I've got millions of credits and lots of spare time, and I don't mind experimenting .

So I'm wondering what you guys think of equipment. I've got around 40k mass to mess with. Right now this is what I've got in it...

LvL 3 Looted Reactor - 3.5k Mass, 12.5k output (I could probably go down to a LvL 1 Reactor and save some mass)

LvL 7 Crafted Engine - 83 Speed, 51/50/51 PYR, 13k Mass (I want to get something REd that's lighter, but I want to try to keep this same speed and PYR)

LvL 4 REd Capacitor - 33.7 Recharge Rate, 888 Energy, 3.8k Mass (Depending on how well this works with one blaster and Cap Overload 3, I might get something lighter with less Energy)

LvL 2 REd Booster - 38.5 Recharge Rate, 31.5 Acceleration, 1530 Energy, 1.1k Mass (Nothing to say here, I'm probably going to keep this Booster)

LvL 5 REd Droid Interface - 5.2k Mass, 18.5 Speed (Not the fastest, but I think its good for now. Maybe later I'll try to do better)

I've got about 12k mass left. I plan to go with no armor to save mass, and a very light shield (1k at best) just to protect me from NPCs.

What do you guys think about my current setup, and what would you change? I still need a weapon and a shield as you can see.

Definitely get a crafted level 1 reactor. They weigh in at less than 1k and 10k power is more than enough.

Personally, I'm beginning to feel that PYR is more important than top speed in PvP, and that engine just looks to darn heavy for what you get. If you do have time and money, find an REd reward engine and slap it in there. Even a post nerf would be superior to that one.

You can find good Level 2 RE'd caps that will serve your needs and shave mass.

If your shield is just going to be a token NPC blocker, then you don't really need a fast DI. Get a crafted level 1, take a couple extra minutes to "boot up" your overloads, and pick up 5k mass.

For a gun I'd recommend a Level6 RE'd or possibly a gun crafted to fire really fast.

Just kill tier 1's and 2's for the capacitor and reactor. I use a level 1 reactor (14k gen) and a level 2 capacitor (1020, 35 recharge) Niether of these are RE'd just regular loots. With 2 level 6 guns (re'd to 2700 and 2550) and low ESP plus a .301 refire, this setup saves a TON of mass. Capacitor is ~1k mass, reactor is less than 1k, and both guns combined are about 19k mass. Leaves a lot of room for sheilds and engines, plus a level 3 droid interface RE'd to 18.6 speed. Look for a while to save your mass. it pays off

definately ditch that engine, you'll get better speed and better YPR from anlooted RE level 6 that will clock in at mid to high 70 speed, and high 60s ypr. it's mass will get down to around 8k if you are lucky.

as for guns, i'd go with a level 5, it should be light but still have enough punch to kill a big ship in 5-10 shots. you could go with a crafted for speed weapon as well. but you don't really want to let it dip below 1k dmg imo.

don't settle for anything less than .330 refire either.

I have been stocking up on level 5 guns and if you keep your eyes open, you'll find gems. Mine are going to turn out (after RE) about 2100 damage .3 refire, with EPS of 19. Still looking for that ultra low mass gun, hehe. Level 6 turn out nice with some careful part picking, a buddy loves his 2800 damage disruptor, lol. Also, dont forget to look at the effectivness of the guns, when you RE you're getting the best of each stat, so look at the individual stats, not the gun as a whole.

Definitely ditch that reactor. I have a level 1 crafted that is 1300 weight and 12500 generation, and you won't even need that much. I have seen crafted ones at around 800 that generated 10k, which is all you would need.

Get rid of that capacitor too. I've seen non-RE'd level 2 ones that are better than that, and are not hard to get.

An RE'd reward engine will give you the same speed as that level 7 you got, and have better YPR, usually either high 60's - low 70's. Also much better mass, low to mid 8000's.

The reason I have that heavy ass engine in there is because I want this ship faster than my Krayt. Whatever I'm looking for I'd like to have at least a 85 speed. PYR can suffer because with the PYR of the Kihraxz chasis, it'll equal out.

I think a few people said go for a LvL 6 REd weapon, which is what I was also thinking. The speed notes are helpful. Somebody mentioned a slower DI since I wont need it to charge up the shields, that's a good idea (thought I'm so impatient ). All your replies where good and gave me ideas, thanks for the info. I'll post when I make some progress on this thing. Been so busy lately...

Ditch the reactor for a level 1 one with over 11K output and less mass. Use reactor overload 4 if needed, and replace it. 1.3K mass

Ditch the engine for something with better Y/P/R. Around 60 in those. Speed is not as important, unless you plan to flee from many battles. Anything over 70 should do well enough. Level 6, re'd down to 8-9K mass or so.

Ditch the cap for a level 2 one, even looted they beat those stats, and re'd you can get 37 recharge easily, and 900ish max energy. 1.4K mass or so.

Go fora level 5 re'd gun, and shoot for 5 to 6K mass.

Go for a level 5 shield, and see if you can get a 1K one, probably re'd. Use the rest of the mass as armor.

I used to fly a TIE/IN with 40K mass for pvp, until I got my Interceptor (which uses about 46K mass currently), and I fit a crafted level 7 shield and crafted Mark II armor on it, 1800 shield strength, 500ish armor, and it saved my hide several times.

I'd really test an engine with better turning rates - the TIE/IN had good turning rates from chassis, and I still saw a lot of a difference in turning ability between two engines.

If you got the millions to spend look for a pre-nerf lvl 6 reward engine. This will make all the difference in the world. Just remember to keep the PvP in DS if you can.

Before I share my thoughts, I figured I would start with my current Kihraxz setup for comparison.

Reactor (crafted) - 11148 energy generation, 815 mass (level 1)

Engine (looted/RE'd) - 79.7 speed, 64 ypr, 3441 mass (level 4)

Shields (crafted) - 1249 hitpoints front/back, 8.52 recharge, 6733 mass (level 5)

Armor (looted/RE'd) - Income Light Armor plating (sorry can't find ss of this to check stats, know mass is around 580 are both level 1)

Capacitor(looted) - 871 energy, 35.8 recharge, 1661 mass (level 2)

Booster (crafted) - 30.0 speed, 25.6 accel, 1002 mass (level 1)

DI (looted) - 13.2 speed, 501 mass (level 1)

Weapon (looted/RE'd) - 1682-2836 damage, 10363 mass, .390 fire rate, .690/.680 shields/armor (level 6)

With this setup I have 25676 of around 41000 mass used and am always tweaking it. Definitely recommend finding an "legacy" space parts if you can. By "legacy" I mean old parts before changes such as the DI and Engine in my ship. These parts were looted before they "balanced" then engines (when reward engine was changed) and they "fixed" the DI. It may cost you a lot of money, but sometimes you can find them on vendors where people don't know what they are. I just picked up 4 old level 1 DIs the other day for 1k each for example. Someone mentioned the Reward engine, which is nice if you can find them. I opted for the engine above over my 92 speed reward one simply because of the mass. I can throw a mark two space bomb launcher (which I keep on me) in with this engine if I need to make a quick vette run for someone without having to worry about swapping my reward engine from my Krayt. If you notice, all my stuff isn't even RE'd yet, so I have lots of room to improve it.

As for direct suggestions on your loadout, would start off by definitely looking to improve your DI first. That's a lot of mass to devote to that. I can't tell what server you are on, but if you are on Gorath, contact me and maybeI'll sell you a old DI. Also, don't skimp too much on your shield. You don't want to get ripped to shreds by an NPC while looking for players to PvP with. When starting my loadout for my Kihraxz, I put things in in this order: weapon, engine, shield, capacitor, DI, booster. I then added up my energy and threw in the lowest mass reactor I could find to manage it all at basic levels. Finally, threw in some low level armor in the space remaining. Hopefully this comparison will help you out some.
