I have a question as I am really new to pilot. I have finished all the first boxes and now I have bought a TIE/IN chassis and I have no idea as to how to make it a ship. I talked to the chassis dealer and he did not recognise it. What am I doing wrong? How do I make this chassis into a ship that I can fly?

Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Did you buy the chassis, or did you buy a blueprint?

Normally you buy a blueprint from a Shipwright, and then when you take it to the chassis dealer, he converts the blueprint into a chassis deed in your inventory (like a swoop deed gets placed in your inventory). Then you use the deed to make the chassis appear in your datapad.

If you bought the chassis, then it's already been converted from a blueprint by a chassis dealer, and all you have to do is use the deed.

It's been a while since I bought a blueprint, so I don't remember whether it goes into your inventory or the datapad. If the item is in your inventory, try bringing up the radial menu and seeing if you can use the deed.

Well I bought the chassis but it does not give me tho option to convert it. I will try again but that is what frustrated me so much. Thanks for the info, I will keep plugging away.

If I'm understanding you correctly, this is your problem. The first boxes (aka Tier 1) only qualify you for the plain Tie. You need at least 2.1.1.1 for the Tie/ln. At least that is if I remember correctly, haven't played my Imp in a while now.

Yup, Tie/In certification is at 2-1-1-1, however the chassis dealer should already be able to make it into a deed for you. I have a guildie that's at 2-2-2-2 pilot, picked up a decimator because he really wanted one really bad, and isn't even certed for it. You probably have a deed for it, as the chassis dealer isn't recognizing it, but you aren't yet certified to use it.

Thanks I knew I wasnt yet certified for it but I just wanted to have it so I can use it as soon as I pick up the box. So if I am understanding it corectly I cant even deed it until I am certified for it? If so that would make perfect sense as to why I can only "examine" and "destroy" it.

One other question. Once I certify in it and I use it, is it only the basic ship? Does it have any weapons? Engines? Hyperdrive? Or do I need to add all these "alakart"?

Any info would be much appreciated, thanks.

Chassis Deeds are just that, Chassis. you provide the parts.

Here's the rundown though, since you're still confused

1) Shipwright crafts a Blueprint

2) Player takes the Blueprint to the Chassis Dealer, and can convert it to a Deed, certified or not.

3) When certified, the player can then add the control device to his datapad.

3a) If what you bought was a Deed already, then you don't need to see the Chassis Dealer at all, and can ready the ship as soon as you have the cert.

I believe you'll need to install parts.

and don't forget, the qualifying thing works in reverse. if you decide to switch faction and drop your pilot skills, you won't be able to re-deed any ships you have in your datapad, or get any components out of them, so take em out and re-deed it before you do. you can get a csr to come fix it but it really is annoying.

nb- when it comes to getting another ship and you have 3 in your datapad, you will have to destroy the starter ship, as you can't re-deed them.
