Anyone else notice a glitch where you load a chip into a flight computer, the FC shows there is room for it, then when you commit the FC, the chip disappears and doesn't show up in the computer anymore?
This happened to me twice the other day, and the only thing I can think of is that there wasn't enough room in the FC for the chip. Even still, it shouldn't have let me load it if there wasn't the room.

I had that recently when I tried out some Imperial commands. I just thought it was a glitch where if you max out commands at 100%, it would cancel the last one you put in.

happened to me also. you need to take the fc out of the ship first. annoying but happily solvable.

I've probably gone through 5 or so chips, trying to get them to load onto my astro droid. Think I'll have to try unloading my droid and then loading the chips inwhen I log back in.

I believe this has been /bugged some time ago. When getting close full fc/droid and wanting to add more programs, you should definitely check both the program size and the fc/droid storage compartment for exactly how much space you've got left. Installing a chip into an fc/droid that doesn't have the space to hold it can definitely result in loss of the chip.
Taking the fc/droid out of the ship before adding/removing programs also seems to make the new program list actually appear in both the fc/droid program window and the ship management window after reinstalled. Still, many times I have to recommit with no changes after making the first changes in order for the new program list to show properly.
Not game-breaking if you are very attentive to the changes and make sure they show before you go, but definitely could use a look at from the devs.

There have been several fluky things with lost chips lately. The FC/Droid doesnt always warn you when it wont fit, that can be one issue. I'm unsure about the having it installed in a shipthing, but I won't disagree with it. Personally, I lose some chips when I try to load multiple programs at once. I now load and commit one at a time, then select something else in my datapad, then select the FC, make sure the new prog displays on the listing, then open it to add the next program. Tedious, but better than losing 2-3 chips (happened to me one day).

Yea its an ugly UGLY bug I seen it myself, it loads it anyway when you dont have rooom for the chip (but youassume you do since it loaded) but after commitment- No chip, No loaded program.
A stickie should be made of this thread refined, to warn players of how it happens..
withdeclining populations, at leaston my server, droid programs become hard to get. I'm so glad I stockpiledas many as I could get my hands onin November.

When loading a new comp or astromech, or changing my loadout... I always unload the programs I know to make room.. then load my chips... *then* fit "my" programs back in.
The issue is overfull comps, and it not warning you.
