Yes, you only have to have "flight artistry" to get onto Deep Space, anyone can get into Kessel

right, go to kessel and shoot down 30 of whichever faction they tell you to, return to the Admiral, get your jacket, get the next mission, go back to kessel , kill the vette, then go back to the admiral and get your helmet, medal and train in flight artistry.

I am a 4/4/4/4 freelance pilot (RSF). It's actually been quite a lot of work (at least I think so) to get there.
I received a mission after training my final tier 4 skill, and went off to complete it. I failed (died), and started over. Halfway through my second attempt, I was forced to leave the game in a hurry, and used shift+esc to "exit the game." I don't make a habit of this, but I really had no choice.
When I logged in the next day, I was in Theed (as is usual for a disconnect in space), and I was met with a "Mission Failed" message. I figured this was as good of a time as any to go try again, so I returned to my trainer. Rather than giving me a light jibe about my performance and the option to try again, she congratulated me and sent me to the next NPC. As it turns out, he sent me to the Kessel system, which I cannot access for lack of the "Flight Artistry" skill (Master Pilot).
Any suggestions (other than a bug report and a CSR ticket)?

No worries King, just hyperspace to the Dathomir system, go to the (last chance) spacestation from the poi menu. You have to converse with the station and it will give you an option to go to Kessel. You will be able to get in.
