Hey, how DO you mine asteroids? I have JTL, but not RotW. Is it even possible? I am a SW but i cant make mining lasers because...i need asteroids?? Go figure..so, do i just need a mining laser and blow them up?

Without RotW you are dependent on someone else to get you your first mining laser and cargo hold. Once you have them (anyone who's done the RotW quest ought to be able to give you hand me downs). You can begin to mine. You won't be able to complete the quest for a mining ship, but you can begin mining and from there, craft better gear on your own.

You need ROTW to be able to mine. A mining laser and cargo hold will not enable you to mine unless you have ROTW.

Is it just me or does everyone get attacked everytime they try to space mine.
i know they are called mining pirates or somthing like that but do u get attacked everytime you space mine?

Pretty much, yes. If you mine in the same place long enough, they'll come around sooner or later. Luckily, they're fairly ignorable in most places. This is really good for Imps, since multi-gun ships are kind of hard to come by.

That's what's supposed to happen. Think of the Big asteroid as a critter lair. It spawns rocks, and at certain points while you're damaging it, it spawns pirates.

I actually mined 1550 petro in Yavin spacelast night and I did not have one single asteroid bandit show up. It took me 12 minutes to fill my hold since I was free of distractions. A new personal best for me.
I have also had trips where I get attacked half a dozen times by tier 1 bandits in Naboo space. If my hold is almost full I just keep mining and ignore them. My shield recharge is high enough that they might as well not bother to shoot at me.

A guildmate of mine ignores them completely in about every sector except Kessel. He has an old Type 1 ultrafast droid interface and just uses Cap to Shield Shunt 4 on a recycling macro.

Sometimes 3 or 4 times a run, sometimes none at all. They spawn randomly when you break off a chunk.

I have had 16 of em pounding on me at one point. And using this very same method I never had to bother shooting any of them
