Thread: Best pre-ROTW freelance ships for PvP?

On my server they're discussing different events like level 1 gun events and pre-ROTW only ship events. I use a heavy scyk now, but my question is what ship would be a good choice from the pre-ROTW days? I know the Dunelizard is a great ship but its hella huge in PvP standards. Any advice?

As a freelancer you don't have any good PvP ships unless you can manage a 12k scyk. 1 on 1 you might be able to hold your own in a krayt but in a mass battle you will live about as long as it takes for the opposing side to close the distance to you. Freelancers really got the shaft when it comes to pvp ships (pre-rotw). However, the new heavy scyk is fairly nice but the vaksai, despite is huge rear end, is a devestating PvP ship.

All im gonna say is dont bring a dunelizard to a ROTW ship furball. Its kinda painful.

I have to agree with the Firespray. The Dunelizard and Rihkxyrk (that name's even uglier when you try to spell it) are both loves of mine, but are just too big of a target. The Firespray is just kind of big I guess, and is your best bet if you aren't going to squeeze yourself in a Kihraxz.
Kind of like comparing a 2x4 to a fuzzy die.

I've read about that event, probably present myself there 
We made one some months ago (un-anounced, just between friends) and well, 1 on 1 two good pilots will NEVER kill each other with lvl 1 guns. The fight consisted in newbie pilots getting killed pretty fast (damn, i understand why so many people stay out of deep space... if they cant dodge 8 straigh shots...) and well, then some form of ganking... I remember we needed 5 shipsto get a x-wing down. Granted that guy was a hell of a pilot (Miocid... you should fly more often

And... if i had to choose a frellancer ship I'll choose a Rykhyxz (hmpf... the vaksai's model, however is spelled...)

I hear good things about Dunies and Rhyxrik (however the hell that's spelled)and missile jousting Kimos and Krayts.

All around, probably the Dunelizard, I would say.
Although the Krayt or Rihx could definitely be viable alternatives, as Janu pointed out. Especially if you had a competent gunner in the Krayt's turret...
Too bad about the mass on the Kiraxh...I have tried to make one of those work a few times, but it just does not cut it...it's supposed to be somewhat on par with the Tie Advanced/A-wing, but really I find it to be on par with a Tie/In 
It would be really nice if they made the Kiraxh's mass closer to the A-wing's, then it would be a fun little ship.

Well keep in mind I am coming from the world of fast fighters. A Firespray might be a bit of system shock. 
That's a very good suggestion though, I never really think of the Firespray when I am considering pre-ROTW freelancer ships.
