Thread: Mining help plz Please disregard, question answered

I've been unable to successfully mine anything and am sure there must be something simple i'm doing wrong. I have a Tie Oppressor with a class I mining laser, smallstarfighter cargo hold. I target the large asteroid and shoot it until i notice large pieces around. I then shoot these and get the laser hitting them sound but I can not target them. I then find smaller pieces around, can't target them, do get the mining laser hitting them sound. I can fly into them and they bounce away. I can never get anything to show up in my cargo hold. Can anyone give me some things to try. I have read the posts below, but I have been unable to target or collect the pieces. I can't find any tractors on the bazaar to try that.

Update:
Apparently never chipped off any and that is why I could not target them. Works as described with WO3 running.

Have you tried "/tar asteroid" or are you trying to TAB or cycle through nearby targets?

You should only need to shoot them with the mining laser, but it sounds like you might be chasing the static, for show asteroid pieces. You could try "/targ ast"(without the quotes) and that should target the astreroid pieces. Also keep an eye on your radar the asteroid pieces show up as a light/pale green, well thats how they show on my radar. There is also a thread floating around here that has a macro for targeting and following asteroid pieces, if search was working for me I'd post a link to it.
