I generally go in for the underside weapon 5 first (since that is the only weapon covering that side), then remaining on that side, take out shield 1 and 2 (front corners/sides of vette), then go for the engine. Providing all of it's escorts are taken out by now, I then remain that side of the vette until the Engineer type people capture the vette and escort it etc.

The "trick" is that your shots have to hit a component, not just hit the ship anywhere and target a component with [ and ]. All those do against a Corvette (or the ISD and Space Station in DS) is show you component status and give an aiming point.

even easier, once the escorts are taken out.......fly up until your nose is touching the vettes engines, and target subsystems with mark 3 proton missiles and fire away till its disabled. i like to leave its weapons intact so when im escorting it back i have all its guns to help me

one other thing.......don't take control of it till its about 5k from the station
