Subject say it all...Ive got 298k XP banked and im sick to death of Freelance and its damn Jabba missions

If I switch will i loose my banked XP?

Yes. I switched from2/3/2/2 Corsec pilot with about 200k or so xp to rebel pilot about a month ago and lost all the experience with the skills.

Yeah, forgot to mention that..hehe. I made that mistake. Didn't strip/redeed my dune lizard before dropping freelance,thinking I'd be able to do it later but wasn't. Couldn't trade itwithout deeding it, and couldn't strip it to deed it. So I ended up having to delete it and all its components.

Ah well. Live and learn..

basically you start from scratch with 0 xp.

canabalize your current ships and save the parts for your new chassis.

And don't take off your freelancer bandolier. If you do, it's a wall decoration from then on.
