With the new mining changes I was able to fill a large fighter cargo hold (1736 in size) in, get this, LESS THAN THREE MINUTES. I had 34% of the hold full after the first 3 chunks. Mining is now easily 3 times as fast as before, maybe faster.

Even when they scrape the black paint off the windows, the Y-8 is still going to suck as a mining ship. There is really no way to use a tractor beam effectively and manuevering to keep the roids in range of the turret gunners is a major pain in the @ss. My crew mined just 460 units in an agonizing 20 minutes. We gave up because it was just too frustrating to continue.

The Y-8 needs some kind of super elite "wide field" tractor beam that can tractor in the small chunks more easily. This would allow a crew of two or three to mine faster than they could in three fighters. As it stands now, three people in three shipscan mine much muchfaster than they ever could in the Y-8.

Nice try DP, but the Y-8 still bites the big one when it comes to mining.
