Thread: Fly both the Jedi Starfighter and the ARC-170

I have been reading the Forums for some time now, at least a few weeks. There is infinite discussion about these two Spacecraft but this specific question, though raised many times, has never been answered clearly. I am in day three of playing SWG (This game totally Rocks) and haven't found the answer from players in-game either, So here it goes:

IS THIS POSSIBLE????

1. You start out a Privateer in space, you can still be an Imp on the ground and therefore get the Jedi Starfighter mission from Vadar, complete the mission, then quit the Imps. Since the requirement for the flight cert for the JS is that you have completed the mission, can you still fly it if you are no longer an Imp? - main question ONE

2. You then build up some rebel faction and go Rebel combatant (remaining Privateer in space) and get the ARC-170 quest from the queen. Complete the mission, then quit the Rebels. Since the requirement for the flight cert for the ARC-170 is that you have completed the mission, can you still fly it if you are no longer a Rebel? - main question TWO

3. You continue up the skill boxes in Privateer getting to 4333, low and behold there is the cert for ARC-170 and the Jedi Starfighter in the Privateer skill sets. Can I deed/fabricate/create/unlock/whatever terminology the ships and fly them both? - GRAND FINALE QUESTION!!!!

PLEASE, PLEASE discuss and respond to this as I have spent many hours researching this. I know the JS vs. ARC is a heated debate but please do not focus on that here. I am simply trying to do the Privateer thing and use BOTH SIDES to get what I want... It's what Han Solo would have done before he met Luke, Leia and that "Crazy Old Man" - =)

- Thanks in Advance -

Yes, you can still fly both even if you change factions. However, you can't generate the ship from a deed unless you do it while you're still that faction - it's a current bug. But I can confirm you can definately fly the ships if you jump faction.

I would assume you can remain a neutral pilot if you switch factions, but I've never tested this. Someone else might be able to tell you whether or not you'd have to level up again.

Just, whatever you do, generate the ship as soon as you finish the quest, and don't ever deed it.

Are you a pilot and not using Droid Commands?

Nope, I'm a freelance pilot and have flipped back and forth from Imp to Reb on the ground about 6 times in the past week.

Got and can use my JSF and ARC-170, lost no pilot skills in the interim.

If a poisonous snake is dropped on top of you from a gyrocopter, don’t freak out and shoot your own driver with your arrow gun, making the vehicle lose control and blow up. Its probably just as scared as you are.

So 'Nope' to what?... Its not bugged or my plan that I laid out will not work?... if i generate the ship as soon as I finish the mission I will be able to fly it when my Privateer skills reach 4333??!?

One caveat... you can't generate the Jedi SF until you actually reach the 4333 level. I have the deed, can't generate, message says it's because I don't have the skills yet.

Hopefully I'll be able to generate it when I'm 4333 regardless of faction, but if not, can switch to Imp again.

The ultimate answer to all your questions is yes. But like someone mentioned, you need 4-3-3-3 in some pilot profession in order to fly any of those ships.

Thanks all!!!! great answers... lots of clarity...
The only issue that seems to be up in the air is whether I will be able to generate the Jedi Starfighter as a 4333 Privateer rather than a 4333 Imp

To answer your questions:

Im a Rebel Colonel in ground, and Rebel Ace Pilot. I wanted to get the Eta-2 Actis Interceptor (Jedi Starfighter) like you have no idea, so what I did was drop both Rebel on ground and in space to get it. Bought some FP to become imperial and made the quest. I regrinded pilot again and I was able to generate and fly the Eta-2 with no problems (After joining the Rebels again, ground and space, same thing).

If you are neutral in space, you can keep your space skills after dropping rebel, you have no problems to switch from one to another. Something odd that happened to me is that once I was rebel again, I couldnt generate my ARC-170 anymore, and I had to took the quest again (I even got a second deed, wich btw, if anyone in corbantis is interested, im selling, PST Genma *AHEM*). So yes its possible.
