Thread: Impressed with the Reward Sheild from the Nym's Starmap quests

For my own personal use, I have found that the Reward Shield form Nym's Starmap can be very very useful. The stats vary by a large margin. I have done the quest 4 times on Naritus, the worst shield I got, was a 1300 front/1700 back, level 8 certification, however the RE level..is 7.
On naritus, a good crafted lvl 7 sheild is 1950+ front/back, 16k-17k mass, with a recharge at roughly 11.5.
I got lucky on my 3rd quest, and my reward shield, had both stats in the 2000's. The mass however, was 45,000, but obviously, since it is REable, and level 7, i was able to find a nice 16,500ish level 7 sheild to RE with it.
The end stats ended up at roughly:
2150 front
2200 back
16,000ish mass
13 recharge
The reason obviously, that this sheild has potential to be so good, is the RE level is lower than the certification level, resulting in a shield that has the possibility to have level 8 front/back, however with a level 7 re level

The other factor you're forgetting is reactor drain. I wager you ended up with under 2k drain on that shield, and that's probably 1/2 what a crafted mark IV comes in at (typically 3500+). This can be VERY handy when setting up a PvP rig and wanting every erg of power available for using EO4.

I have done the quest twice, all my rewards sucked except one engine that had 99.1spd that REd well.

Not to mention this can be made into an excellent grinding shield, as putting an L7/RE7 in the tool first puts out an L7 part even though the Protectos are L8.
