Even overload 4 can be repaired without loss at a normal space station without a trip to deep space.
Reactor overload 4 is the most damaging with 30 points of damage done. If you do a 25% repair on that it will repair 7.5 (not sure how it rounds so I'll show both) 7 damage leaving you with 23 damage and having repaired only 7 no decay, then if you do a 25% again on the 23 it repairs 5.75 or 5, leaving you with 18 damage and having only repaired 5 you lose nothing, then a 50% repair of the 18 fixes 9, again under 10 so no decay and finnaly a full repair does the last 9, no decay.
If it rounds the other way, you repair 8, leaving 22, then you repair 5.6 so 6, leaving you 16 damage, and then 8 and 8 at 50% and full repair.
So ANY time you have damage of 39 or less you can get away with repairing it partially several times and never repairing more than 9 at once therefore, no decay.
25% 25% 50% full repair, in that order can fix any droid command damage without loss.
It's a pain in the butt but I'm too lazy to unload my level 4 overloads when I'm remastering pilot and don't like permanant decay either.

Deep space can solve any damage situation, so long as you can get to deep space.

Hi all,
I just wanted to ask a quick question. Someone mentioned to me in passing yesterday that as I'm a Rebel Ace, if i use all of the level 3 droid commands instead of the level 4 ones i will not decay my components. Does anyone else know if this is the case, or if there is another way to cut down on this?
Thanks all.

Overloads of all level decay the component it is overloading. However if you are overloaded for a short time before you repair you might only suffer fractional damage and the item may not loose any hitpoints when repaired.

lvl3 overloads cause damage but it can be repaired without decay. Wtih lvl 4 overloads it causes enough damage to cause decay to prevent this most pilots hyper into DS and leave right away taking advantage of the decay free repair unpon exit.
